In the revival series, Malcolm has been living a peaceful life away from his birth family. He has a daughter and a girlfriend, and life couldn’t be better. Kiana Madeira portrays Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend, who is thrust into the chaos that is Malcolm’s childhood family.

“I was such a huge fan growing up, so I knew what I was getting myself into,” Madeira told Nerd Reactor. “But I just love that they didn’t lose that. It’s been almost 20 years, and the actors themselves just jumped into the character so effortlessly. The writing, like Linwood Boomer, our creator and executive producer, stayed so true to the heart of the original series. I think fans are gonna love it for that reason, like we really don’t lose that chaos and that energy, which is like what makes Malcolm in the Middle what it is.”

While Malcolm’s family isn’t perfect, at the heart of it, the family still cares for each other.

“Your family doesn’t have to be perfect, because no family is perfect,” she explained. “There’s going to be dysfunction, there’s going to be chaos, but at the heart, if you just have love for one another, you can overcome anything. That’s what I love about this family, it’s so relatable.”

Matarazzo portrays Jack, a misfit who isn’t afraid to shake the system.

“I like to think that Dustin would academically excel tremendously more than Jack would,” Matarazzo tells Nerd Reactor. “I doubt that was Jack’s primary reasoning for attending college in the first place. So I think that they would have very different goals. I think they’d fare well. I don’t know if Dustin would be willing to jump into an unpredictable drug-fueled nightmare the way that Jack would. So I would trust Dustin in a situation far more than Jack personally.”

Giambrone is Montgomery, the reserved one of the duo.

“I think that Adam would probably call his mom to handle [things],” Giambrone said. “I think that I could almost see Dustin figuring out some way to balance the drug, so it would cancel the effect or something. That’d be a wild duo.”

Lulu Wilson plays Lizzy, who used to be friends with Jack and Montgomery and is trying to be part of the cool kids. She has a horror background with movies and series such as The Haunting of Hill House, Annabelle: Creation, and Ouija: Origin of Evil.

“I do think there’s definitely some utter terror in this movie,” Wilson recalled. “We get pretty scared, so I think it does kind of cross over. But I also think that horror and comedy are very connected, just because of people like Jordan Peele or Zach Cregger. I think it definitely informed the practice that I’ve had. Doing all this horror definitely helped with this movie 100%.”

Jung Sung-il portrays Cheon Seok-joong, the Chief of the Presidential Security Service, and Roh Jae-won as Pyo Hak-soo, a KCIA colleague of Baek Ki-tae.

“Baek Ki-tae is a KCIA agent, but he’s got another pocket just for himself,” Jung Sung-il tells Nerd Reactor. “So that’s his ugly desire. And just like that, the other characters, including mine and [Roh’s] Pyo Hak-soo also have their own agendas. They have their own motives. So I think the fun of the show is when the different desires of the different characters clash. There are certain incidents that happen. There are chemistries that are built within. So it’s got the explosive energy that leads to synergy.”

Audiences have been enjoying the cat-and-mouse genre, such as Dexter and Hannibal. With Made in Korea, they’ll get to see a thrilling drama involving a government official against another government official.

“I think catharsis is the reason why people love this kind of show,” Roh Jae-won tells Nerd Reactor. “But Made in Korea, I think, is different from just a story where a good guy goes after a bad guy. If you watch episodes five and six, especially, you will learn that all of the characters have their own desires, and the desires evolve over time. That’s what makes it more interesting.”

Known and loved for her starring role as Mercedes Woodbine on the Starz series P-Valley, Evans also found herself a longtime fan of Reasonable Doubt, so much so that she even signed a Change.org petition demanding the show’s renewal. She soon found herself cast in the series as Monica, a recurring character who is part of the show’s major case this season. The series was created by Raamla Mohamed and stars Emayatzy Corinealdi as Jax Stewart, a corporate criminal defense lawyer navigating challenging high-profile cases.

Evans commented, “The storyline is so important. It’s much deeper, I think people are starting to realize, than they thought it was going to be. So I’m glad that I’m able to tell the story and make us aware of what’s happening to our children at a young age… I think that we talk about our girls a lot and a lot of times we just gloss over what’s happening with our baby boys. So I am glad that I’m able to tell such a difficult story, and such an important one.”

Reflecting on how she prepared for the role, Evans said, “I always tell people this is the hardest role I’ve ever played. They assume it’s Mercedes, but locking into this character of Monica has been the hardest thing of my life. Especially episode 6 when you see that. I had to not judge the character and think about what would make it make sense for her. I did research. I asked a lot of men whether they’ve had situations that happened in that show. And of course, I worked with an acting coach to lock in and really hone in on that character.”

When asked about the experience on set, Evans couldn’t say enough good things, commenting “Raamla Mohamed creates such a safe space. There was always a therapist on set to make sure we were okay when filming difficult situations. And having an all Black writers room was very important because we are telling Black stories. She made sure we had Black writers at the forefront as well as Black directors.”

Looking ahead to what’s next, Evans can’t wait for fans to finally see P-Valley season three, which has been filmed but has not yet announced a release date. She also hopes to do more comedy in the future, especially a rom-com with her dream co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell.

Known and beloved for her iconic role as Chessy in Lindsay Lohan’s The Parent Trap (1998), it is no surprise that audiences are just as obsessed with Lisa Ann as the scheming, sarcastic, second-grade teacher on Abbott. The entire main cast which also includes Creator Quinta Brunson, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, William Stanford Davis, and Chris Perfetti, has created the perfect escape where we can not only laugh every week but also gain a beautiful appreciation for the realities of public school teachers and the city of Philadelphia. It was recently announced that Luke Tennie, a rising star from the Apple TV+ hit series Shrinking, will be joining the show as a teacher for season 5.

Walter recounted, “In [Tennie’s] second week there, he said, ‘When I wasn’t on this show, I used to wonder what it’s like over there because it seemed like magic. And then I got here and it’s because you people are magical,’ and I almost started crying. I’ve been a guest on lots of sets and people don’t invite you to sit with the main cast and start talking to you and asking you about your life and your family and your career. We’re a welcoming group of people.”

We also chatted about the unexpected and delightful friendship that has developed between Walter’s character and Jacob (Perfetti) after they became roommates in season three, and Walter teased that there’s a great storyline between the two of them coming up in the season 5 episode that takes place at a Phillies game. She commented, “The balance is really interesting on those characters because he’s so earnest and he tries so hard and he wants to do the right thing all the time. And Melissa has gone past the point where she’s simply annoyed by him, into where it’s more maternal where she wants to take care of him but also is annoyed by him many times over. Now she’s like I can give you a hard time but nobody else better.”

When she’s not on set filming season 5, Walter can be found racing down to the Dancing with the Stars studio to support her best friend and The Parent Trap costar Elaine Hendrix, who’s currently competing in season 34. She would love to compete on the show herself one day, having previously created and produced the 2009 reality series Dance Your Ass Off. But for now, she wants to make sure to get the word out for everyone to vote for Elaine, who is making her triumphant return to dance after an accident kept her away for many years.

Next week, Walter will be performing a series of stand-up comedy shows at The Comedy Vault in Batavia, IL. There are still a few tickets left for the October 3 and 4 performances.

Since the show’s first season in 2021, audiences have been addicted not only to the show’s iconic trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, but also to the quirky cast of neighbors who surround them. Howard quickly became a fan-favorite character, and Creighton was thrilled to be made a series regular.

“This character and I meld together in a really great way,” said Creighton. “He’s sort of a heightened version of all of my bad and good qualities. He is who I could see myself being if I didn’t go to therapy. And I think that has made a case for keeping me around. I do know the writers love writing for him. And I love playing him. I just feel really lucky that this has been the trajectory.”

Without giving anything away, Season 5 follows the trio’s investigation into the murder of their beloved doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca), and Howard finds himself bonding with a new robot friend along the way. The season will also feature special guest stars Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Dianne Wiest, Téa Leoni, Bobby Cannavale, and Meryl Streep.

When learning that his animal-loving character would be spending more time with a robot than animals this season, Creighton says his reaction was, “Of course. Of course, he would. I was up for the challenge… It was harder than acting with a cat and easier than with a pig.”

Creighton also dropped an exciting piece of news that he will now be hosting the show’s official podcast, which will drop audio and video versions on all podcast platforms with each new episode. The podcast will feature exclusive cast member interviews, behind-the-scenes info, and much more.

The Landman Patch Café: Step into an authentic slice of Midland, Texas and kick back in a faithful recreation of the series’ favorite watering hole. Guests can order up signature drinks at the bar in a M*Tex souvenir mug.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva: Enter a world of espionage, romance, and high-stakes tension with this Parisian café with a twist. Inspired by Tony and Ziva’s journey, this space features a cozy exterior that hints at the quiet life they crave, while inside transports guests to a different world. Step inside a stripped-down safehouse, complete with easter eggs such as surveillance equipment, photos, and passports.

Mission: Impossible – Die-hard fans and first-time agents alike will experience a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity in a recreation of the iconic scene from MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1996) where Ethan is lowered into a high-security vault. Guests can strike the legendary suspended pose for a personalized image to take home of their unforgettable IMF mission.

Peacemaker’s Peacefest

Peacemaker Season 2 is headed to HBO Max next month, and the streaming service will be promoting the sophomore installment at San Diego Comic-Con with Peacefest starting on Thursday, July 24. On Saturday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, James Gunn (showrunner, writer, director) will be at the Hall H panel to talk about the show and debut the global trailer for season two.

It: Welcome to Derry will have pop-ups including Pennywise-inspired pedicabs, ambassadors handing out sweets, and a sneak peek at the upcoming series and a new teaser trailer, presented by Andy and Barbara Muschietti (Saturday, July 26 from 9:15 pm to 9:45 pm at the Convention Center’s Room 6DE).

Peacemaker’s Peacefest Details:

From Thursday, July 24 through Saturday, July 26, HBO Max will bring Peacemaker’s favorite alternate dimension to life with an immersive 80’s glam rock bar experience at Nova San Diego nightclub. Guests will enter Peacefest through the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, featuring all of Peacemaker’s favorite things including exclusive fan access to the Peacecycle from Season 2 and a limited opportunity for select fans to meet Peacemaker’s sidekick Eagly, in partnership with the American Eagle Foundation. Throughout the experience, fans can rock out to live musical performances, grab drinks and play themed games at Harcourt’s KO Corner Bar or visit Vigilante’s Hero S*** Merch Shop, where exclusive merchandise from Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, DC Shop, licensed partners McFarlane Toys, Sideshow and Upper Deck will be available for purchase. Peacefest will also feature interactive character themed booths like Adebayo’s Hero Test Photo Booth and Economos’ Ops Mortal Kombat gaming station.

Fans can now register at peacefest2025.com to secure their spot at Peacefest. Reservations are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will be selected for the Eagly meet-and-greet while waiting for entry to “Peacefest” during their reserved time. All guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Star Wars + Coca-Cola’s Holocreator

Fandom has partnered with Star Wars and Coca-Cola for the Coca-Cola x Star Wars: Refresh Your Galaxy.

Here is what fans can expect to experience: Fans step inside a custom Coca-Cola-themed augmented reality (AR) experience – the Holocreator – to record their very own holographic message with memorable Star Wars-inspired backdrops and bring to life galactic moments in a personalized way.

Attendees will also receive limited-edition Star Wars character design cans and bottles, available at the event while supplies last.

Star Trek Immersive Show

WHAT: On Saturday, July 26, the Gaslamp Quarter will transform into a living stage, as fans journey through five immersive “strange new worlds” inspired by Season 3 of CBS’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds genre-bending episodes: a noir murder mystery, a zombie horror, a 60s retro mission, a Vulcan wedding, and plenty of sci-fi mayhem. Created by JFI Productions, each 10-minute performance is bold and inspired and offers fans the chance to step into the story.

Magic the Gathering’s Spider-Man Activation

Magic the Gathering has partnered with Marvel for Spider-Man cards, and fans can get the chance to try out the different decks at the Magic the Gathering x Spider-Man activation.

The Hard Rock Hotel activation runs through the weekend, offering more chances to dive into the Marvel x Magic universe. Marvel’s Spider-Man | Magic: The Gathering set, is slated for global release on September 26, 2025. Read about our preview night here.
