Absurd Ventures is the brainchild of Dan Houser, best known for his work on Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption, and Red Dead Redemption 2. He has teamed up with his longtime collaborator Lazlow Jones for American Caper, a satirical crime drama set in Verona, Wyoming. Joining the team is legendary editor Shelly Bond, whose credits include Sandman and Fables. Together, they have brought a world filled with violence and corruption, with two “normal” families in the middle of it all.

Nerd Reactor spoke with Lazlow and Bond about the comic’s absurd humor, world-building, and why American Caper is shaking up the comic book world.

“One of the things Dan and I love doing is fake ads,” Lazlow tells Nerd Reactor. “We did a lot of that for the in-game radio and TV in all the GTAs. As part of this comic book, we have fake ads. There are no real ads inside, they’re all fake, and they’re tied into story content.”

The fake ads make the world feel alive, and it’s one of the charms of the Grand Theft Auto games and American Caper comics.

“It’s world building, and so you have to do all the same things,” he added. “What does the town look like? What are the advertisements? What are the billboards? What are the brands? What’s the soda pop? What’s the beer? It’s been fun because it’s a different kind of world-building.”

Bond helps bring Houser and Lazlow up to speed in the comic book world, including bringing in talented artists.

“When Dan and Lazlow pitched me the series, it really felt like something that was gonna shake the comic book industry to its core,” Bond said. “And it doesn’t let up. I promise you, issue 12… the double-sized issue… you are gonna be gobsmacked. The idea was so big it demanded a 48-page issue.”

About American Caper

Synopsis: Verona, Wyoming. A small town like any other. A land of hunter and hunted. Apex predators… and regulations just waiting to be broken. Culture has become a war, everyone has everything they need yet are miserable, and American life is still dominated by real estate, violence and snake oil. From the tax-avoiders in the manicured wilderness of Wyoming, to the thought police of Brooklyn, to the confused political battlegrounds of Florida, one thing is certain: This tragedy is someone else’s fault.

The crime-fiction comic book series was created and written by Dan Houser, produced and with additional writing by Lazlow, and edited by Shelly Bond and Daniel Chabon. Artists include David Lapham (story layouts and pencils), Chris Anderson (finishes), Lee Loughridge (colors), Nate Piekos (lettering), Tyler Boss (series covers), and variant covers by Simon Bisley, Martin Simmonds, Joe Quinones, Marguerite Sauvage, and more.

Issues #1-9 are now available, with issue #10 coming on August 19, 2026. Trade paperback collection volume 1 is now available, with volume 2 releasing on October 27th and volume 3 on March 2, 2027.

Marvel’s Wolverine made a major appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. Not only do we get a brand new Story Trailer, but the panel offered a much better understanding of how Jean Grey, Team X, Trask Industries, the Reavers, the Hand, and Lady Deathstrike all fit into this new corner of Insomniac’s Marvel universe.

Creative Director Marcus Smith, Game Director Mike Daly, Senior Project Director Jess Reiner-Reed, and Narrative Director Walt Williams appeared alongside Marvel Games Executive Producer Eric Monacelli. Liam McIntyre (Logan) and Krizia Bajos (Jean Grey) were also there to discuss their characters and the relationship forming between them.

The biggest takeaway is that Insomniac is not simply dropping Wolverine into the familiar. There is no Xavier Institute. Mutants are scattered, frightened, and largely forced to survive in hiding.

Logan and Jean Grey’s uneasy reunion

The Story Trailer opens with an enraged Logan confronting Jean Grey, only for the situation to suddenly expose a far more vulnerable side of him. Whatever has happened between these two, Jean appears capable of seeing past the anger, sarcasm, and carefully constructed walls Logan uses to keep everyone at a distance.

Bajos described the two as sharing something close to a cosmic connection. It’s no secret to X-Men fans that Logan has carried feelings for Jean for decades. Although Jean hasn’t reciprocated feelings, Jean still cares deeply for Logan. Jean can see his wounds—presumably not just the ones his healing factor can close—and understands that there is more to him than the violent man standing in front of her.

In Marvel’s Wolverine, Jean has been moving from place to place and gradually discovering that other people like her exist. She wants to give those mutants something she never had: somewhere safe enough to stop running. Jean may be laying the earliest foundation for something that eventually becomes the X-Men, even if nobody in this world has thought of that name yet.

Then she meets Logan, a rugged stranger who does not exactly look like the community-building type, yet seems willing to put himself through hell to protect people he barely knows.

The Hand enters Wolverine’s world

The Story Trailer also introduces the Hand as one of the game’s major enemy factions. For those unfamiliar with the comics, the Hand is an ancient, demon-worshipping order of assassins that serves a supernatural entity known as the Beast.

Although the organization is traditionally more closely associated with Daredevil and Elektra, their reach extends throughout the Marvel Universe. Of course, Wolverine has crossed blades with them many times—especially their leader.

Lady Deathstrike is leading the Hand

Insomniac’s largest change to the Hand may be the identity of its leader. Jess Reiner-Reed confirmed that Lady Deathstrike commands the organization in Marvel’s Wolverine and will be one of Logan’s most dangerous enemies.

Lady Deathstrike is one of Wolverine’s most personal recurring foes. Her father, Lord Dark Wind, developed the process that allowed adamantium to be bonded to bone. His stolen research eventually reached the Weapon X program, where it was used to coat Logan’s skeleton. Believing Wolverine’s body represented the theft and corruption of her father’s legacy, Yuriko transformed herself into a cyborg with long adamantium claws. She dedicated much of her life to hunting him.

She has worked with the Reavers and other anti-mutant forces in the comics, but she is not traditionally the Hand’s supreme leader. That is an Earth-1048 invention, and honestly, it makes a strange amount of sense. Deathstrike already has the design, discipline, Japanese background, and obsessive hatred required to stand at the center of an army of supernatural assassins.

The Hand also gives Insomniac a natural path to Japan. Japan is not just another stop on Wolverine’s worldwide journey. It’s a foundational part of his comic history. Some of his most important stories involve the Yashida family, his love for Mariko Yashida, his friendship with Yukio, his rivalry with Silver Samurai, and his struggle to live by a code of honor that does not always agree with his instincts. Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s original Wolverine miniseries from 1982 is the defining Wolverine storyline—presenting Logan as more than an animalistic berserker with claws.

Whether any of those characters appear remains unknown. Still, sending Logan to Japan while placing Lady Deathstrike and the Hand directly in his path feels very intentional.

Trask Industries is hunting mutants

The other major threat comes from Trask Industries and its billionaire owner, Bolivar Trask. Unlimited wealth combined with an uncompromising worldview can cause enormous damage, and Trask has both. He views mutants as an existential threat and is using his resources to remove them from the world.

In the comics, Bolivar Trask becomes the creator of the Sentinels. His fear of mutantkind leads him to build machines he believes will protect humanity, only for those machines to repeatedly decide that the easiest way to protect humans is to control or eliminate everyone who might produce mutants in the future.

The game has not abandoned that anti-mutant ideology, but Trask’s immediate weapon appears to be the Reavers rather than an army of Sentinels.

Insomniac describes the Reavers as a cybernetic militia operating as guns for hire. They capture mutants and deliver them to Trask. Similar to Lady Deathstrike and The Hand, the Reavers are established comic villains who don’t normally work for Trask. They began as cybernetic mercenaries and were later reorganized by Donald Pierce, a mutant-hating cyborg associated with the Hellfire Club.

Insomniac is effectively combining several different branches of anti-mutant hatred into one ecosystem. Trask supplies the money and ideology. The Reavers provide the technology and manpower. Deathstrike and the Hand bring something older, darker, and far more personal.

There are no X-Men—at least not yet

Eric Monacelli confirmed that the X-Men do not currently exist in this version of Earth-1048, the same universe used for Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games. In this world, Logan is not a member of the X-Men. There is no Professor Xavier available to explain mutant politics, unlock a hidden memory, or point him toward the next mission. The people in this world are still figuring out what mutantkind is and whether it can survive long enough to form any kind of community.

Nathaniel Essex and Team X

The closest thing the game has to an organized mutant team is Team X.

In Insomniac’s continuity, Team X was created during the 1960s by Nathaniel Essex as a special-operations unit meant to combat the threat posed by Bolivar Trask. Logan left the group three years before the events of the game, apparently under ugly circumstances. Essex felt abandoned by his departure, and Logan’s return is not exactly being treated as a happy reunion.

Anyone who reads X-Men comics should recognize Nathaniel Essex as the real name of Mister Sinister. Sinister is an immortal geneticist with a sick obsession to the studying, manipulating, cloning, and improvement of mutant bloodlines. Sinister has a particularly disturbing fixation on Jean Grey and the Summers family, even creating Jean’s clone Madelyne Pryor as part of his experiments.

Making him the founder of a mutant team is new, but it fits his personality in the worst possible way. Essex rarely helps mutants out of compassion. He collects them, studies them, alters them, and treats their lives like pieces in an experiment only he understands.

The comic version of Team X is different as well. There, they’re a covert unit with a connection to the Weapon X and Weapon Plus programs. Its roster has included Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, John Wraith, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Their memories were repeatedly manipulated, leaving the team unsure which missions, relationships, and betrayals actually happened.

Insomniac appears to be borrowing that paranoia while changing who brought the team together and why. In Marvel’s Wolverine, the Team X roster is Wolverine, Sabertooth, Mystique, and Sunfire.

Insomniac wants players to feel like Wolverine

Mike Daly said Insomniac set out to create its version of the Wolverine players already understand: cynical, candid, emotionally guarded, and far more compassionate than he wants anyone to notice.

That meant treating his abilities as more than a list of combat mechanics.

Of course, claws naturally sit at the center of the action. However, his healing factor, heightened senses, berserker rage, and adamantium skeleton also influence how he moves through a fight. Logan can track enemies, detect incoming danger, absorb punishment, and push forward with a physical weight that separates him from Insomniac’s much lighter and more acrobatic Spider-Men.

Adamantium does not simply make Logan difficult to kill; it makes him extraordinarily heavy. Every leap, tackle, and claw strike should feel like it is coming from someone carrying hundreds of pounds of nearly indestructible metal inside his body.

Then there are the missing memories.

Memory loss has followed Wolverine through most of his history. The Weapon X program subjected him to experiments, mental conditioning, and false memory implants until even Logan could no longer separate his real past from the lives other people manufactured for him.

The game is not an origin story, but players will peel back the layers of Logan’s history and discover what happened during his years with Team X. That gives Insomniac a fresh way to explore different periods of his life without reducing the entire plot to another retelling of his story.

Wolverine crosses over with MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls

The panel also revealed a collaboration between Marvel’s Wolverine and MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

Wolverine’s stylized Tōkon costume will be unlockable through normal progression in Marvel’s Wolverine beginning on launch day. In return, the Battle Reborn suit designed for Insomniac’s game will arrive in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls as a free costume for all players on September 1.

A Wolverine prequel comic is available now

Insomniac also released an official digital prequel comic for Marvel’s Wolverine during SDCC.

Written by Narrative Director Walt Williams, with artwork by Luke Ross and a cover by Iban Coello, the comic takes place before the main game. It explores Logan’s difficult relationship with the other members of Team X during a mission to protect mutantkind.

Physical copies are being distributed at SDCC while supplies last, but the comic can also be read digitally through Marvel Unlimited.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches exclusively for PlayStation 5 on September 15th.

Wizards of the Coast has just announced a gloriously chaotic new Secret Lair Superdrop that brings mutant mayhem, rooftop battles, and sewer-side heroics straight into Magic: The Gathering. The Secret Lair: Totally TubuLair Superdrop goes live on March 2, 2026 at MagicSecretLair.com — and if you’ve ever wanted TMNT-inspired cards with that MTG spin, this set delivers.

For anyone who needs a refresher, Secret Lair is the place where Wizards takes familiar cards and gives them fresh art, wild themes, or special twists that collectors and fans will love. These drops are limited and often available only for a short window, so they carry a mix of excitement, urgency, and a “did you snag that yet?” energy every time they drop.

This newest Superdrop leans hard into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover spirit, mixing mutant mayhem with surprising Magic staples. There are six drops in total, and each one brings its own personality:

During the release week for HUXLEY: The Oracle, I spoke to acclaimed concept artist Ben Mauro all about his vision for the series and his experience working on Call of Duty, Halo, and more.

Mauro is known for being the artist behind well-known titles like The Predator, Halo Infinite, The Hobbit Trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Elysium, and Chappie. He created the HUXLEY: The Oracle series as a prequel to his post-apocalyptic sci-fi graphic novel HUXLEY, which was released in January 2024.

Set during the height of the Oracle Empire, HUXLEY: The Oracle follows Max as he starts his career as a Ronin soldier designed to maintain order on the desert planet Fury‑7. Max becomes involved in a plot that threatens to destroy the empire while the AI-controlled empire fights brutal wars to maintain its control. His search for hidden secrets in the desert leads him to a path that will transform his identity while determining the destiny of the galaxy.

Huxley Inspirations

Talking about the difference between the original HUXLEY novel and this new prequel, Mauro commented, “The original HUXLEY graphic novel is very much a European-style graphic novel series. And the Oracle is much more of an illustrated novel sort of in the vein of Simon Stalin-type books. So it’s almost like reading a movie in a way, really big illustrations, beautifully illustrated. And then you can kind of dive deeper into the other stories from there.”

We also discussed his love for storytelling. Mauro said, “A lot of the movies I worked on, I’d have to illustrate moments of the story. You have to create this drama and evoke an emotion in the viewer that, hopefully, is so powerful, it ends up being part of the story. That was really good training to get better at visual storytelling. So hopefully when you read these books, it feels like watching a movie or TV series unfold.”

Early hardcovers of HUXLEY: The Oracle are shipping now. The public version from Amazon and bookstores is also available now in the UK. It will be available in the US and worldwide on December 2nd. Keep up with all of the latest updates at https://www.huxleysaga.com/.

Dan Houser and Lazlow (Red Dead Redemption) are pivotal writers in the world of Grand Theft Auto, with the former known as the cofounder of Rockstar Games and the latter appearing as a fictionalized version of himself, along with co-writing the radio stations. Both have left Rockstar Games in 2020 to start Absurd Ventures, with the aim of creating new intellectual properties that span movies, television, video games, comic books, and more.

One of the projects Lazlow and Houser are working on together is American Caper, an upcoming comic book series by Absurd Ventures and Dark Horse Comics. This marks the first appearance of a new crime-fiction drama by the duo.

“Making video games is really hard,” Lazlow tells Nerd Reactor. “Making comic books is really, really hard as well. It’s a completely different kind of storytelling. When Dan and I started Absurd Ventures, we wanted to work on some new open-world games and do adult comedy animation. Dan and I are both fans of comic books. So, he came up with this idea of this sprawling crime caper set in Wyoming. Which is a place that we’ve never set any of our stories in.”

They reached out to comic book editor Shelly Bond, who helped with bringing in artists like David Lapham (Cross, Stray Bullets), with Chris Anderson on finishes, and Lee Loughridge on colors.

“When Dan came up with these characters, he did the first pass on the script, and then I took it and edited it and get together with them,” Lazlow said. “I’m like, ‘I think we should add some scenes with this character and add this dialogue.’ And then we collaborate with the editor and the artists, and they throw in their ideas.

“I had this idea with comics that someone would just write a script and hand it to the artist, but it’s very much a back-and-forth collaborative effort. It’s a lot of work, but it’s fun. I grew up every Wednesday going to the comic book shop and blowing any money that I had from taking out the trash and mowing the lawn. And to actually be working on a comic with this gang, it’s amazing.”

Houser and Lazlow have been working together for decades, and their working relationship is still the same after all these years.

“It’s exactly the same,” the writer explained. “Dan comes up with the characters. He’s responsible for all those iconic characters that you remember from GTA 3, 4, San Andreas, Red Dead, Bully, and… So he comes up with the characters and the storyline and then we collaborate and we send the scripts back and forth to each other And I add stuff and send it to him and he adds stuff.

“But you know, a lot of our process is I’ll come up with an idea at 11 o’clock at night and text him. And he does the same thing. I have to cut and paste all the text threads and email them to myself and put them in the scripts because whenever an idea pops into his head, he’ll just shoot me a quick email or a text or give me a call. We’ve been creative partners now since 2001, and it was exciting to start Absurd Ventures with him and be making new stuff.”

Expect the same for American Caper with the comedic satire and violence that people know from the games.

American Caper issue #1 debuts on November 12, 2025.

It’s officially Spider-Man Day, and Marvel Studios wasted no time webbing fans up in hype with the release of a 9-second teaser that offers our first look at the Web-Slinger’s striking new suit, and a confirmed release date for his next big-screen adventure, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, swinging into theaters July 31, 2026.

Short? Yes. Sweet? Very. But that’s all it took for Spidey fans across the multiverse to lose their collective minds.

A New Day, A New Suit

The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser, dropped this morning on Marvel’s official channels, doesn’t show much, but what it does reveal speaks volumes. Set against a blacked-out backdrop, we see a shadow suddenly turn into view, appearing very close in frame. This close-up reveals a fresh take on the classic red-and-blue Spidey suit: sleeker lines, detailed materials, and the sense of a bold new chest emblem creeping in that has fans already theorizing about its inspiration and implications.

While there’s no dialogue or plot hints just yet, the clip oozes style and intent: this isn’t just a wardrobe change. It’s a statement. With Brand New Day, it’s clear that the Web-Head is heading into uncharted territory.

What Brand New Day Could Mean for Spidey

Fans of the comics will immediately recognize Brand New Day as one of the more controversial and pivotal eras in Spider-Man’s history, following the events of One More Day. That storyline reset Peter Parker’s world, stripping him of his marriage to MJ, reshuffling his rogues’ gallery, and rebooting his place in the Marvel Universe.

While the MCU has taken creative liberties in the past, this title might signal a significant turning point. After the emotionally charged events of No Way Home, which left Peter Parker isolated and forgotten by those closest to him, Brand New Day could very well explore the consequences of that spell, and what it means for a Spider-Man with nothing left to lose but everything to prove.

A Big Year Ahead for the Web-Slinger

With the July 31, 2026 release now locked in, Spider-Man fans can officially start counting down. The film is expected to serve as a major milestone in the MCU’s evolving saga, possibly tying into other street-level heroes and larger multiversal threats. While casting and story details remain under wraps, Marvel promises that more news, including a full-length trailer, will debut later this year.

Until then, the teaser will have to hold us over, and it does its job beautifully. The new suit alone is already inspiring fan art, cosplay plans, and wild theories about what’s next for everyone’s favorite Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Final Thoughts

On a day meant to celebrate one of pop culture’s most beloved icons, Marvel gave fans a perfect gift: a tease of what’s to come, a suit worthy of a new era, and the promise of big-screen heroics just around the corner.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026, and if today’s glimpse is any indication, Peter Parker’s next chapter is going to be one for the ages. Keep your Spidey senses sharp, more updates are surely swinging our way soon.

“In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight…” Today, DC, Visit Burbank, and Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled the Green Lantern bronze statue at the Burbank Empire Center in California. The John Stewart statue stands at over seven-and-a-half-foot tall, weighs almost 600 pounds and was crafted by Burbank’s American Fine Arts Foundry and Fabrication. In attendance were Burbank Vice Mayor Nikki Perez; DC President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee; DC writers Jeremy Adams, Morgan Hampton and Tim Sheridan, and more.

“We’re super proud of this,” Lee tells Nerd Reactor during the unveiling. “[The] art was designed by Jamal Campbell, McFarlane Toys did the digital sculpt of this, and I think it’s the most powerful one so far. And it’s just so amazing that we’re able to add more and more of the DC pantheon to the beautiful city of Burbank. Our heroes are protecting the city, but it’s also the home of DC Comics.”

Stewart is an important member of DC’s Green Lantern Corps, and the statue can be seen at Hangar 28 in Burbank, CA, right behind the BevMo! building. This marks the third DC superhero statue in Burbank after Batman in downtown Burbank and Wonder Woman at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour entrance.

“John Stewart represents an important milestone in DC history as our first modern Black costumed superhero, debuting in Green Lantern #87, published in October of 1971,” said Lee during the ceremony. “For writer Dennis O’Neil and artist Neal Adams to create a character like John Stewart was nothing short of visionary, as it broke a lot of the usual conventions when it came to superheroes, including his being one of the few to not wear a mask in his role as a Green Lantern to hide who he is. He’s John Stewart, period.”

An exclusive comic, Green Lantern John Stewart, Global Guardian, was commissioned by Visit Burbank, and it will be available while supplies last. It is written by John Ridley and Charlotte Fullerton McDuffie with art by Amancay Nahuelpan, CHRISCROSS, and Jordi Tarragona and cover art by Jamal Campbell.

“His adventures in comic books and animation with Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Green Lantern: Beware My Power have become an enduring part of DC’s storytelling legacy,” Lee continued. “And with the character’s upcoming live-action debut on DC Studios’ Lanterns TV series, John Stewart’s future couldn’t be brighter.”

The Green Lantern statue can be viewed 24/7 at Empire Center’s Hangar 28 at 1775 N Victory Place, Burbank, CA.

John Dolmayan is the drummer of System of a Down, a metal band with hit songs including “Chop Suey,” “Toxicity,” and “B.Y.O.B.” When he’s not performing on the stage, he’s enjoying the world of comic book to the point of owning an actual comic book store called Torpedo Comics and collaborating with top artists such as Jim Lee. Dolmayan has a new comic book series titled Dead Samurai, marking the second comic book series he has written after Ascencia.

Set in eighteenth-century feudal Japan, Dead Samurai follows a half-Japanese, half-Portuguese samurai named Shinzu, an outcast who fails to save his lord and family. However, he finds out that the youngest daughter is still alive, and he must escort her to safety from bandits, rogue ronin samurai, and cannibalistic zombie-like humans infected by a leprosy-based disease.

Working with Dolmayan are artist Ryan Benjamin and cover artist Bill Sienkiewicz.

“I met him through my good friend Jim Lee, years ago at WildStorm,” Dolmayan said of artist Ryan Benjamin. “And, you know, we’ve been looking for a way to work together. He’s so into this era of Japan as well. So it worked out perfectly, you know, like, I’ve been kind of trying to get him to do stuff for me for a long time, but great artists are always sought after and busy. It’s tough to get them. Marvel and DC snatches him up pretty, pretty readily. But when I told him the concept, he was like, 100% in right away. He got excited, which is always what you want to hear.”

Dolmayan has plans to write at least six issues with variant covers from top artists.

“So this is only going to be six or seven issues, maybe eight in total, depending on how long it takes me to tell the story,” he said. “Bill’s going to do all the main covers. Then I got a bunch of friends – Jim Lee, Frank Cho, Arthur Adams – they’re all going to do variants, which should be really cool.”

Dolmayan wanted to create something that he would enjoy reading and is hoping that it will be picked up as a live-action film.

“I want it to be live-action,” he explained. “There’s some really cool animation already done, you know, so I don’t want to take away from that. This needs to be a live-action. It could be practical effects. It could be shot mostly in forests and small villages and stuff like that. And it can be done. I can get a decent budget. But, you know, we don’t need big CGI. We don’t need anything. It’s a lot of dialog, a lot of introspection, and character development is important to me. So it’s a lot about the characters, and I want people to be able to relate to them because I’ve taken different personality traits I have and close friends, and put them into these characters. So it should be relatable for most people.”

About Dead Samurai

In 16th-century feudal Japan, a leprosy-based infection that penetrates the brain has turned millions of humans into cannibalistic creatures devoid of morality or memory. A half-Japanese, half-Portuguese Samurai named Shinzu has failed to defend his Daimyo and his family from danger. Shamed beyond redemption, he resigns himself to seppuku (ritual suicide). Before he has a chance, he discovers the Daimyo’s youngest daughter has survived!

With a regained sense of purpose and a way to regain his honor, he sets off on a quest to find a safe haven for his ward. Dead Samurai is a Three Musketeers-esque story of duty and honor, as well as personal sacrifice and friendship.

Dead Samurai will be released on October 9, 2024. Pre-orders are available at Torpedo Comics.

On September 26, Batman became the first superhero to receive the Hollywood Walk of Fame Star. He joins Batman icons including Adam West, Burt Ward, and co-creator Bob Kane. Jim Lee, the chief creative officer of DC Comics, was in attendance for the Batman Walk of Fame star ceremony along with Ward, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Jason O’Mara (Justice League: War), Diedrich Bader (Batman: Caped Crusader), Hamish Linklater (Batman: Caped Crusader) and more.

Athena Finger, the granddaughter of Batman co-creator Bill Finger, was also in attendance.

“Finally feel like he’s gotten his due,” Lee tells Nerd Reactor. “How cool is it that a fictional character, been around for 85 years, finally gets a star on the Walk of Fame? It’s a huge honor. I think it’s a testament that he is a Hollywood icon, he’s a global icon, and I think it just solidifies that fact. So we’re really thrilled to celebrate Batman here on this amazing august day.”

“It was the character of Batman and Robin that created the opportunity for our television series,” Ward said. “It reached hundreds of millions of people a week. And now finally, the character joins Adam West (Batman) who had a star, and myself. I got my star in 2020.”

“I think it’s incredible that we broke history here today,” Baker exclaimed. “The fact that he’s the first superhero to get his star. If you’re going to give it to one superhero, absolutely he’s the best. I love that we got several generations of Batmen mentioned.”

The ceremony was held five days after 2024’s Batman Day.
