Business Insider correspondent Jason Guerrasio says the film “is worthy of all the hype.”

Today, Universal Pictures has released three comedic videos, showcasing stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and Hannah Waddingham, and director Leitch as they develop marketing ideas for the movie. These include marketing the marketing for a movie about movies, recruiting social media celebrities Khaby Lame and Dude with Sign, and bringing basketball superstars Jalen Brunson and Julius Randall to prove that they’re real movie buffs.

The film is directed by David Leitch, a former stuntman who is now a director with credits including Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Ryan Gosling (Barbie, La La Land, Drive) stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place films, Sicario)—goes missing.

While the film’s ruthless producer (Hannah Waddingham; Ted Lasso), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Bullet Train) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

Inspired by the hit 1980s TV series, The Fall Guy also stars Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise) and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

From a screenplay by Hobbs & Shaw screenwriter Drew Pearce, The Fall Guy is produced by Kelly McCormick (Bullet Train, Nobody, Atomic Blonde) and David Leitch for their company 87North, and by Ryan Gosling and by Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones, Steve Jobs and executive producer of the upcoming series Ripley) for Entertainment 360. The film is executive produced by Drew Pearce, Entertainment 360’s Geoff Shaevitz and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.

The Fall Guy releases in theaters on May 3, 2024.

“The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show” will have a limited run from April 27 to May 19 and will coincide with the theatrical release of the film on May 3, 2024. The live show will be a part of the existing WaterWorld live attraction.

The show will feature an original storyline that will give audiences a peek at how stunt performances are designed and executed while celebrating stunt performers. It is produced by 87North Productions, the production and action design company founded by Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick, the studio that brought us Nobody and Violent Night in addition to John Wick, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train, and Fast & Furious Present: Hobbs & Shaw.

“We make movies to give audiences an experience, and what better way to amplify 87North’s brand of action storytelling than to evolve into live events,” Leitch said in a statement. “We are so thankful to our partners at Universal who embraced our ideas and gave us the platform to do something really fun and immersive with The Fall Guy.”

There will also be The Fall Guy photo op available at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Fans of Ke Huy Quan will be excited to learn that he’ll be in more projects. This week, Universal Pictures announced that he will be starring in Jonathan Eusebio’s directorial debut, With Love. Esubebio was the second unit director for Deadpool 2 and Violent Night.

The action film is being produced by David Leitch and Kelly McCormick through 87North (Bullet Train, Violent Night, The Fall Guy) with Guy Danela overseeing on behalf of 87North.

With Love is written by Luke Passmore based on the original script by Josh Stoddard & Matthew Murray.

Ke will next be seen in the Russo Brothers’ The Electric Slate for Netflix, based on the graphic novel of the same name. He’ll be starring alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Stanley Tucci, Billy Bob Thornton, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Jonathan Eusebio has been working as a 2nd Unit Director and Stunt Coordinator with credits including Black Panther, The Avengers, the John Wick franchise, Birds of Prey, Kate, Deadpool 2 and Fate of the Furious. His stunt performance was featured in Black Panther, Ninja Assassin and 300, and his fight coordinator credits include Never Back Down, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and The Avengers. He served as a fight choreographer and stunt coordinator for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
