Dark Matter Season 2 has recently debuted on Apple TV+. In the first season, Jason Dessen was trying to find his way back to his family. In season 2, he gets to go on adventures with his family in alternate universes while trying to find a safe place for them. One of the antagonists in the show is Leighton, played by Dayo Okeniyi, a billionaire tech CEO who helps fund the multiverse project.

In the second season, Leighton’s plan grows more ambitious as he meets with his other alternate selves.

“I’m just excited to for audiences to see the humanity in Leighton,” Okeniyi tells Nerd Reactor. “I think in season one, we painted a very quick gestalt of who the character was, and we got to see him from the periphery of Jason’s point of view.

“But I think in season two, we really get to go home with him and really get to see why he is the way he is, what makes him tick, his upbringing, his history and the pressures are on him to make this box work. This endeavor, this investment that he’s made, why he has to make that work and to show that he is a human being, He’s not this mustache twirling villain.”

As Okeniyi, he ponders what it would be like to meet the other Dayos out there.

“You have to meet yourself,” he said. “It’s too enticing not to. Who’s the version of you who got every part as an actor that you didn’t book. You know what I mean? It’s like, who’s the Dayo who played Black Panther? Who’s the Dayo who was in Star Wars? Who’s the Dayo who was in DC or whatever the case might be.”

Dark Matter Season 2 premiered on Apple TV+ on August 28, 2026, with new episodes releasing weekly until October 30, 2026.
