Wish Dragon is an upcoming Sony Pictures Animation film headed to Netflix. It’s set in modern-day Shanghai and is a genie-in-a-bottle retelling, featuring a magical dragon instead of a genie.

Chris Appelhans is the director and writer. He has worked in writing and developing many projects under Disney, Laika and Paramount.

Jimmy Wong voices Din, a working-class college student with big dreams but small means.

John Cho voices Long, a powerful dragon who has the ability of granting wishes. Jackie Chan voices him in the Chinese language version.

Together, they are in search of Lina, Din’s long-lost childhood friend. She is voiced by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who can be seen in Guns Akimbo and The Greatest Showman.

The cast is joined by Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Jimmy O. Yang (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Aaron Yoo (Hawaii Five-0), Will Yun Lee (Altered Carbon), Ronny Chieng (Godzilla vs. Kong, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Bobby Lee (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle).

With wishes being a huge part of the story, Din and Long’s journey will have them question what’s really important in life.

Composer Philip Klein is scoring the film. He’s no stranger to fantasy adventures. He's worked on Raya and the Last Dragon, The Mandalorian, and the upcoming Jungle Cruise. Klein used experiences and emotions from his own life to connect with the central characters in the film.
