Stephen Oyoung portrayed Mister Negative in Marvel’s Spider-Man, a 2018 PlayStation 4 game that featured the supervillain who wanted revenge against Norman Osborn. The Marvel villain’s first appearance was Free Comic Book Day: The Amazing Spider-Man #1 back in 2007, and he later appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #546, the first issue in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline. With the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, having that same name, could we see Oyoung debut as the live-action Mister Negative?

Filming is currently in production for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and fans are speculating that the Inner Demons, a gang led by Mister Negative, will be in the movie based on the logo on this tank. This adds to more rumors about Mister Negative appearing in the upcoming film. However, Oyoung has something to say about the rumors of Mister Negative in the MCU.

“Every year we’ve talked, and the rumors have kind of increased this year,” Oyoung tells Nerd Reactor in an April interview. “It really felt like all of a sudden it was super serious. This rumor. And then, as far as the information that I know, from my professional sources, again, NDAs are all bound by everything. But yeah, I know some things. I can just say that. I’ll just tell the fans this, though, as far as Sony or Marvel approaching me, that hasn’t happened. And I would let you know if it did, or I would not let you know if it did.”

The actor doubles down on how the studios didn’t contact him.

“So all I can say is they haven’t approached me,” the actor said. “But what I can say is this, for the first time in my entire career, the amount of support from my side has reached critical mass. It has never been this large in my entire career. And I worked for like 18 years. For the first 10 to 12 years, nobody knew who I was. Then the game comes out, and now a few people know who I am. And now it’s what, six years on since the first game came out. Now it feels like every gamer knows who I am, which is amazing. So for the first time, I actually have some support in my end, which is coming from the gaming community.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker, and a lot of footage and photos have been posted by fans and onlookers in Glasgow, Scotland, which doubles as New York City.

The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.

Spider-Man fans of all ages can experience the thrilling multiverses of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live in Concert touring nationwide until mid-November.

Concert-goers will see the film on a vast HD screen while listening to a live, full orchestra, a scratch DJ on the turntable, and various percussion and electronic instruments. It’s an exciting two-hour and 30-minute film concert that will treat your senses to Daniel Pemberton’s musical scores, the composer of both released Spider-Man Spider-Verse animated films and the upcoming third installment.

“Across the Spider-Verse is probably the most exciting, groundbreaking, and impactful score I’ve written” – Daniel Pemberton

High-Energy Complex Blend of Hip-Hop, Orchestral, and Electronic Beats

Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse Intermission. Photo credit: Alice Ly

We had the pleasure of attending the concert at the Segerstrom Center of the Arts in Costa Mesa, California. While there didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house, the orchestra seats provided an up-front and intimate setting to see the music come alive.

The conductor is Shelbie Rassler, a 26-year-old Juilliard-trained composer and multi-instrumentalist. After auditions, Pemberton hand-selected Rassler to bring his exact score to life on the 50+ city tour.

Rassler encouraged the audience to cheer whenever they’d like during the film, making it a much more interactive and bonding experience for the fans. There were heavy cheers for characters like Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Punk, and Pavitr Prabhakar, and whenever the orchestra performed a piece that kept the audience asking themselves, “How is this live?!” which was quite often.

Not only did we hear the multi-dimensional musical blend of orchestral elements with hip-hop and electronic beats that made you feel like you were swinging alongside Miles Morales, but the stage lights also extended the movie visually. The colors changed, “glitched,” and added visual impact to pair with the high-energy and emotional score.

To get a small taste of the experience, check out the trailer:

Live concert shows are still available for Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, North Carolina, and South Carolina through mid-November, so book your tickets here, experience the groundbreaking soundtrack like never before, and get some exclusive merchandise.

And remember, stay for the credits since the orchestra will play two more live songs!

Reports came out earlier this year, that this would likely be the final Venom film for Tom Hardy. The actor recently commented on an Instagram post for the film confirming this would be his last outing as The Lethal Protector:

“Thank you for a great time – and 7 years. I’ve had the best experience @Sony working with Venom – this is me and the big guy’s last outing going out with a Bang!!! Come see us off – last in the trilogy and done We have had such a great time. Thank you.”

Despite what Hardy said, the rumor going around is that he and Tom Holland will have to work together to take down Knull in Spider-Man 4.

It was just last month, that fans got their first glimpse at the god of symbiotes in a new trailer for The Last Dance.

@nerdreactor
Meet the creator of the symbiotes in Venom: The Last Dance. #venom #venomthelastdance #knull #marvelcomics #eddiebrock
♬ original sound – Nerd Reactor

Since then it has been confirmed that Knull will be the film’s main villain and there has been heavy speculation on who is playing the role. The rumors at the time pegged Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as The King in Black, but a recent report says that Knull is actually being played by Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis. Known movie scooper DanielRPK says that not only will Serkis play Knull in the final Venom film, but that Serkis has signed on for more than one movie.

Since then, news has come out that Marvel wants Spider-Man to appear in more MCU movies and that he will have a larger role in the next phase. There is a chance that Marvel’s new deal with Sony allows Venom and Spider-Man to finally crossover.

Back in August, Tom Hardy was spotted in New York City doing reshoots for The Last Dance. Some hypothesize that the reshoots were for a post-credits scene where Eddie Brock goes to New York in the MCU looking for Peter Parker and that the reason the reshoots were so close to the film’s release was due to Marvel and Sony finally hashing out a new deal.

If that wasn’t enough, earlier today, another scoop reporter claimed that the current working title for the next Spider-Man movie is Spider-Man: The King in Black.

Of course, this is all just rumors and we won’t know for sure until Venom: The Last Dance is finally released in theaters on October 25th.

Lots of Spidey news has dropped lately! When we last reported, Sony appeared to have their eyes on a who’s who list of potential directors for the upcoming Spider-Man 4. Since then, Aquaman director and Saw creator James Wan has been added to the list, and Sony Pictures has been rumored to have already sent an offer to one of the named directors.

Today, Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman announced the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance would be the final Venom movie. In the same interview, Rotham also said, “Let me tell you, when the last of the Spider-Verse movies comes with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, it’s going to be a significant event, as will the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film… For those fans, that’s going to be a significant moment. We have those. The third and last Venom is going to be huge.”

While we can’t confirm what Rothman appears to be hinting at, what is interesting is that known movie scooper Daniel RPK just announced the fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man film will involve the symbiote that was left behind by Eddie Brock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In Venom: Let There Be Carage, Eddie Brock and Venom are pulled into Spider-Man’s universe. Unfortunately for many fans, Tom Hardy and Tom Holland never shared a scene together during No Way Home before Venom was returned to his universe. During the end-credits scene, we can see a small blob of the black symbiote left behind on the bar counter, and it moves just before the camera cuts to black.

If this rumor is true, it will be very interesting to see how the Symbiote will affect Tom Holland’s Spider-Man who is now all on his own since the events of No Way Home.

Daniel RPK also hints that Sony will announce the new director soon as they hope to begin production on Spider-Man 4 this fall. Stay tuned!

This past Monday, Sam Rami’s Spider-Man was released back into select theaters across the country. The film’s re-release is part of Columbia Pictures’ promotion to put all eight Spider-Man films back into movie theaters over the next three months in celebration of their 100th anniversary. According to multiple posts on social media, the film in the series had a major turnout for the one-night showing, and fans were overjoyed to see Tobey Maguire’s webslinger back on the big screen.

According to a report from Luiz Fernando, Spider-Man was re-released in only 446 theaters on Monday, which is a far cry from the 3,615 theaters of its original 2002 release. Surprisingly, the movie was still able to bring in a whopping $680,000 for the night. A more than respectable amount considering the limited number of theaters that were showing the film.

There has been a lot of news circling lately regarding Sam Raimi and Spider-Man. Just this last month, rumors began to spread that Sony was working on getting Raimi and Maguire back together for a 4th film. These rumors were further fueled by an interview with Sandman actor Thomas Hayden Church saying, “I think Sam is gonna do another Spider-Man with Tobey. They had an option for me to do Spider-Man 4 when there was going to be a Spider-Man 4. They had an option on me to come back. So if it happens, that would be fantastic.”

Rami himself has expressed interest in the past in working again with Marvel after his time on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still, during his recent appearance at WonderCon for Boy Kills World, the director downplayed the recent rumors. “I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me…’” As if it wasn’t confusing enough, a new report from World of Reel has just come out and claims Raimi is not working on the 4th installment of his franchise but is actually in the running to helm the 4th Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland.

Fast and Furious director Justin Lin along with Cabin in the Woods’ Drew Goddard have been two names that have been rumored for the 4th Tom Holland film. The new report claims there have also been talks between the studio and Sam Raimi, but nothing has been officially offered yet. What is certain is that previous director Jon Watts is out and Sony and Marvel will need to figure out who will fill that director chair. Who better than the man who than the man who essentially started the Superhero crazy and initially brought Spider-Man to the big screen?

Spider-Man 2 will be in select theaters on April 22nd.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the highly anticipated PlayStation sequel that brings back Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they deal with the new threat of Kraven the Hunter and Venom. They won’t be tackling things alone since they’ll have the support of friends and family, and one important member is Mile’s mother, Rio Morales.

Played by Jacqueline Piñol, Rio has been in three different Spider-Man games from Insomniac Games. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Rio is supportive of Miles (played by Nadji Jeter) and his activities as a superhero in addition to helping out as a councilwoman.

“Nadji and I had some really heartfelt moments,” Piñol tells Nerd Reactor. “And each game has allowed us to play a few of those key moments that I think – although not as a playable character – but on that mission when the gamers get to go through those scenes or if they choose to, I think it just gives it more depth. You’re going to care more about Miles. You’re going to be more invested in his journey and his outcome when you see the vulnerable sides of him.”

“When you see the things that he cares about that have high stakes for him – because if anything were to happen to his mom or things that his mom cares about, it would affect Miles greatly, especially after having lost his dad,” she explained. “So I really love the way the writers and Insomniac took the story. And it’s not just about action/playing because – of course, that’s exciting – but sometimes it carries more weight when there’s something big at stake. I think that the important part of me being in those moments with Nadji is that it gives every character and the story more depth.”

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Miles wants justice for his father’s death and seeks out Martin Li, aka Mister Negative. Rio wants him to move past that, but the thirst for vengeance is strong.

“Because obviously, there’s that part of you that’s like, ‘Yeah, let’s go get them,'” Piñol said. “You just can’t help yourself. You want to get revenge? Absolutely. So, in real life, I mean, it’s tough to say. I think before I was a mom, I was more of a risk-taker. And I would have been more like, ‘Oh, stop at nothing to get back at him,’ you know? When you become a parent, things change and you go, ‘I need to do whatever I can to keep myself safe and protected because I have to protect my son.’ And I just don’t want anything to backlash at my son, right? So moms think that way. And I think Rio is wired in a way to be very protective of Miles because he’s already lost one parent. So whatever we can do to make sure we’re safe and together, but I think she would do anything to protect him, even if she was in danger.”

On Peter Parker:

“I feel like there’s a bit of a motherly and sort of endearing relationship that I feel toward Peter, because even though he’s older than Myles, he’s still almost like a son, almost like I need to look out for him,” she explained. “Especially if my kid has friends, I want to make sure those friends are okay too. I need to protect them because they’re hanging out with my son. And if Peter is such a big influence on Miles and Miles looks up to him as a mentor and a guide, and they’re out there facing the dangers of the world, of course, I want to make sure Peter is okay. So I think that’s not something that is blatantly apparent in the game, but I will tell you that as Rio, that is something that I really felt. I’m hard on him because I know he’s older and more mature, so he should know better. He’s more experienced. But if you’re taking my son under your wing, you better be careful.”

You can see Jacqueline Piñol as Rio Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is now available on PlayStation 5.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the ultimate Spider-Man video game from Insomniac Games. The game is being released on October 20th for PlayStation 5 and follows Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they deal with new threats including Kraven the Hunter and Venom. Villains from the first game will be back including Martin Li, aka Mister Negative.

Stephen Oyoung portrayed Li, a philanthropist who ran F.E.A.S.T., a homeless shelter in New York City. The actor is reprising his role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and he can be seen in the recent story trailer, sporting a new look due to his time at Raft prison.

“I mean, people are speculating,” Oyoung tells Nerd Reactor. “Oh, you know, ‘What is he in this?’ He’s the same old, good old Martin Li, Mister Negative. You will see Mister Negative come in, as you saw in the trailer. It was like blink and you miss it. Okay, talking about face stuff with Spider-Man, I love the chatter because Jacinda Chew and Bryan Intihar and the whole team at Insomniac made that choice to give Martin Li a kind of a new look. Which I thought was pretty cool. I think it’s so funny that people are like, ‘Oh, this guy looks like either Keanu Reeves or Adam Driver.”

A tragic moment in the first game involved Li and his Inner Demons gang being responsible for the death of Jefferson Davis, Miles Morales’ father. This will be explored further in the sequel where we will see Miles confront Martin about what he had done.

“Miles sees Martin,” Oyoung said. “Okay, and after that, I can’t really say anything, but there is definitely some stuff going down with those two, for sure.”

Li runs a shelter to help the homeless, but something has happened to him, causing him to go down a darker path. There is light and dark with these villains, and that’s what makes them compelling as Peter Parker’s antagonist.

“You got your normal lives and then you have your superhero lives and all the things that that entails, right?” Oyoung describes Spider-Man and Peter Parker. “So that translates the same with your villains, right? We’re not just your two-dimensional evil bad guys. Even the bad guys have their motivations. And especially when it comes to Mister Negative. Obviously, we saw in the first game, he was running the F.E.A.S.T. Center. He was a good dude, and he even had reasons. You could sympathize for his plight and kind of why he did the things he did, which just makes him such a rich character, right? Then, as an actor, again, really fun to play.”

Oyoung has been very busy in the video game voice-acting world, and he can be heard in Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1, Gotham Knights, and more.

“If you didn’t meet Daisuke, you can still meet Headlock and then also there’s Emerson,” Oyoung said of the characters he voiced in Starfield. “He’s around there too. He’s another. He’s actually the level that they patched where they have the mud that you could get infinite supplies. If you pass them and go to Emerson’s shop, you can talk to me.”
