Gen V Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, September 17, on Prime Video. After the events of the first season, the superpowered gang is back to unveil the dark side of their school, Godolkin University. The cast and crew appeared at the Los Angeles red carpet premiere, including Jaz Sinclair (Marie Moreau), Lizze Broadway (Emma Meyer), London Thor (Jordan Li), Derek Luh (Jordan Li), Hamish Linklater (Dean Cipher) and more.

The Boys spinoff series is known for its irreverent humor and bloody action. Season 2 continues that tradition and follows the Godolkin students as they deal with a new dean, Cypher, and with each other.

Broadway portrays Emma, a superhero with the power of shrinking and growing. This season, she is practicing how to use her powers at will.

“I mean, our show is so unhinged,” Broadway tells Nerd Reactor. “Like when you think you know The Boys universe, surprise! And I will leave you with a ‘pew pew, pew pew pew pew pew.’ That’s all I will say.”

Thor and Luh portray Jordan Li, who can change gender, with the male version having super strength and durability, and the female version having superhuman agility and shooting energy blasts.

“Oh my gosh, this season is going to be crazy,” Thor said about the second season. “There’s so much more action. The stakes are raised. The relationships are so much bigger and deeper, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s also really funny.”

Marie, portrayed by Sinclair, has the power to manipulate blood, making her one of the most powerful Supers in The Boys universe. She is on the run but ultimately decides to go back to Godolkin University to help out Emma and Jordan.

“Yeah, we definitely have more enemies in season two for sure,” Sinclair said. “And just the journey of Marie’s powers of realizing all the things she can do and what to do with that. And she’s always got a certain amount of clumsiness that I love.”

About Gen V Season 2

Synopsis: In the second season of Gen V, the acclaimed spinoff series set in the Emmy Award-winning world of The Boys, school is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander’s iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it.

Season Two stars Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor as Jordan Li, Derek Luh as Jordan Li, Asa Germann as Sam Riordan, Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity and Hamish Linklater as Dean Cipher.

Michele Fazekas serves as showrunner and executive producer. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, Ori Marmur, Thomas Schnauz, Steve Boyum, and Brant Engelstein also serve as executive producers. Loreli Alanís, Gabriel Garcia, and Jessica Chou are co-executive producers. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

“Expanding the universe of The Boys with a series as bold as Gen V has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew Gen V would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped Gen V become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “Gen V is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new Original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from Gen V to our customers.”

“We couldn’t be happier to make a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we’ve grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season—sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you’ve come to expect from the show,” added showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke.

“We are so proud that our top-ranked freshman is getting a second season! Thank you to the amazing producers, cast, and crew, for bringing Gen V to life, and our Prime Video teammates, for the incredible support and partnership. We’re thrilled we can all continue on this insane journey together in Season Two!” said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios.

Prime Video’s The Boys took the superhero genre and turned it upside down on its head with its irreverent humor involving drugged-up and sadistic “superheroes” and plenty of raunchy and bloody scenes. From manslaughter and murder to deviant acts, the premier superhero team, The Seven, is guilty of it all. The tradition continues with Gen V, a spinoff series following students of Godolkin University, a school for supes to become the best, with one getting the chance to be accepted in The Seven. I had the chance to check out the first six episodes, and Gen V is hilarious and gross with a dash of Scooby-Doo and X-Men set in the unrestrained world of The Boys.

Gen V opens up with a bloody scene of a young Marie Moreau, who discovers she has the power to manipulate… yes, blood. It evokes the X-Men scene where Rogue had her first kiss and discovered her powers for the first time. As for Marie, her menstrual bleeding turns into a dagger, accidentally cutting her mother’s throat as she walks into the bathroom. Her father checks up on the two and is horrified, causing Marie to freak out and explode both her mom and dad into an even bloodier mess. This opening is a perfect way to let viewers know that they’re in for one crazy and horrifying ride.

The series follows young adult superheroes, aka Supes, at a university, so viewers can expect sex, drugs and partying. Since it’s set in the world of The Boys, there are deaths, body parts exploding including a penis, and lots of crude humor. Like Black Noir seeing animated characters in season 3 of The Boys, a character in Gen V sees puppets, and it’s adorable yet bloody.

Jaz Sinclair is the lead as the young adult Marie, someone who wants to escape her past with ambitions to become the top student at Godolkin University. As the outcast turned popular student, she is at ease with the transformation. She befriends the other top students along with her roommate, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, a sweet yet horny supe who can shrink down to size. Together, they navigate a world that can be harsh as they struggle with identity and acceptance. When a student is taken away by security in a really violent altercation, it kickstarts an investigation that will lead Marie and her classmates down a dark and sinister plot at Godolkin University.

Marie gets in quick with the popular crowd as she’s invited by Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo), a charming but mischievous supe with the power to control metal. Patrick Schwarzenegger is Golden Boy, the number one student with the power of pyrokinesis; Maddie Phillips is Cate Dunlap, a mind empath who will protect her friends; and London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li, a gender-shifter who feels slighted by the school.

Gen V is a captivating spinoff that’s worthy of the world of The Boys with a unique cast of characters and an intriguing murder mystery.

Rating: 4.5/5 Atoms

The world of The Boys is expanding with the upcoming Gen V series on Amazon Prime Video. Instead of following The Seven, the top-tier “superhero” team, it’ll be following students at Godolkin University as they compete to become the top superhero, or “supes,” of their class.

The series stars Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Chance Perdomo as Andrew Anderson, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, and Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap.

Playing the role of Godolkin University Superintendent Indira Shetty is Shelley Conn. Derek Luh and London Thor both portray Jordan Li, a gender-shifter who is proficient in combat. Check out the video below as the three talk about The Boys spin-off show, Godolkin University, and more.

“You have to be a top-caliber hero to even get into the crimefighting school to learn about how to be in The Seven,” Luh explained about Godolkin University. “So if you’re not even a top superhero, you can’t even make it into the classes. So the competition is insanely fierce.”

“The power that we have is called shifting,” Thor said about Jordan Li’s powers. “And it really does play out in the story, both in fighting and in relationships as well. It adds to the dynamic and complex idea of who you are in college, in growing up and finding yourself. And also, it creates this fantastic weapon.”

It’s set in the world of The Boys, so fans and viewers will see nods including a statue of Homelander at Godolkin University.

“The presence of Homelander and The Seven is very easy to see on the campus,” Thor explained. “We’ve got literal statues of Homelander looking down on us at all times, and all the other superheroes watching. It’s a huge part of the school. I think they surround it almost like propaganda of “This is what you are aspiring to,” and it’s just all-encompassing, and it’s always there, and you’re always aiming for it.”

Gen V premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 29, 2023.

About Gen V

Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes – preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations…literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?

The series cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. Gen V also features guest stars Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter, as well as appearances from Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Craig Rosenberg, Nelson Cragg, Zak Schwartz, Erica Rosbe, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the spinoff series. Serving as co-executive producers are Brant Englestein, Sarah Carbiener, Lisa Kussner, Gabriel Garcia, Aisha Porter-Christie, Judalina Neira, and Loreli Alanís. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Today, Amazon Studios has released an orientation video with Clancy Brown as Professor Richard “Brink” Brinkerhoff, the crimefighting department chair at Godolkin University. What kind of super are you? That’s the question the video asks of the new students.

This week, Prime Video released the official red band trailer for Gen V featuring plenty of blood and guts and mayhem. The hopeful recruits quickly learn that there’s something wrong with the university they’re attending, and they’ll soon be caught in the middle of everything.

The Boys is getting a spinoff series titled Gen V, which focuses on the younger generation of “superheroes.” Today, Prime Video has released the official key art and character descriptions for the live-action series that will premiere exclusively on the streaming service. The first three episodes will debut on Friday, September 29, and will be aired weekly until the final episode of the season on Friday, November 3.

Synopsis: Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when superpowers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?

The series stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. Guest stars include Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter. Jessie T. Usher, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne are reprising their roles from The Boys.

Character Descriptions

Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau

An 18-year-old superhero with the ability to control and weaponize her own blood. As an incoming freshman at Vought-run Godolkin University, she is eager to prove she has what it takes to join The Seven, but is sidetracked by a mystery she begins to unravel at the school.

Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson

A junior at Godolkin University with magnetic powers. He’s Golden Boy’s best friend and the son of famous superhero, Polarity; Andre has big shoes to fill as he’s set to take over the Polarity name once his dad retires. When Andre realizes that something is afoot at the school, he takes it into his own hands to try and figure out the mystery.

Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer

She is also known by her superhero name, Little Cricket, for her ability to get super small. Though insecure and naive, which often leaves her in compromising positions, she becomes close friends with her freshman roommate, Marie, and together they navigate the mysterious dangers at Godolkin University.

Shelley Conn as Indira Shetty

The dean of Godolkin University. She doesn’t have powers, but her background in superhero psychology and her peerless ability to analyze what makes supes tick make her indispensable to the school. Her goal is to transform Godolkin University into the most elite college for supes and she takes a special interest in Marie when she arrives on campus.

Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap

A junior at Godolkin University who is good friends with Jordan and Andre. Cate is able to push people to do anything she commands using the touch of her hands, which she uses to her advantage. Powerful and confident, she’s also Luke’s girlfriend, making her one of the most popular supes on campus.

London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li

A competitive student at Godolkin University who will do anything to get to the top. They have a unique ability of changing between male and female forms, through which different powers manifest— the man is dense and indestructible, while the woman is agile and can launch energy blasts. Their distinct sets of powers make them a standout TA at Brink’s School of Crime Fighting.

Asa Germann as Sam

A troubled supe who is desperately trying to escape his unfortunate circumstances. He’s extremely powerful, with super strength and invulnerability.
