About Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

The film is directed by Haruo Sotozaki from an original story by Koyoharu Gotoge (Jump Comics / Shueisha). The screenplay and animation is by ufotable.

Synopsis: Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.

While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.

The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.

From the opening moments, Infinity Castle establishes a tone of unrelenting tension. The first major fight wastes no time in thrusting the audience into the action. The heroes we’ve followed for years are suddenly vulnerable in ways that make every clash feel like it could be their last. That immediate sense of dread and adrenaline ensures the film starts on a high and sets the tone for the rest of the film.

Man, oh man, and what action it is. Ufotable once again delivers jaw-dropping cinematic animation with Infinity Castle. Each battle is a feast for the eyes and reminds us why Demon Slayer consistently raises the bar for fight animation.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle dazzles with top-tier action and heartfelt moments, though flashbacks disrupt pacing in this epic final arc.

Yet for all the spectacle, Infinity Castle sometimes gets bogged down by its pacing. The film frequently pauses for lengthy flashbacks that explore the histories of the ranked demons. On their own, these sequences are powerful — often tragic stories that reframe these monstrous figures as once-human beings consumed by despair. They succeed at evoking empathy and will absolutely hit viewers in the feels. However, their placement in the middle of heated fights causes momentum to stall. Instead of feeling like a singular, flowing movie, Infinity Castle at times plays more like a stitched-together set of anime episodes. The rhythm becomes uneven and undercuts the urgency of the life-or-death battles.

That said, these flashbacks do serve their purpose: They provide emotional depth and complexity to these seemingly irredeemable villains. While the interruptions may frustrate viewers looking for non-stop action, they’re in keeping with Demon Slayer‘s trademark spectacle and sentiment.

Overall, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle is a fitting beginning to the end. Its explosive fights, gorgeous visuals, and emotional beats capture everything that has made Demon Slayer a phenomenon. While its structure may feel uneven, the sheer scale and intensity of what unfolds more than makes up for the missteps. Fans have waited years for this arc to hit the screen. While it may not be perfect, it delivers an unforgettable ride that makes the final descent into Muzan’s lair feel every bit as epic as it should.

The second game adapts the second, third and fourth seasons of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime, which includes the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. You will once again play as Tanjiro, a young demon slayer.

Hands-on with The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Story Mode

I had the chance to play a demo during Summer Game Fest’s Play Days and got a taste of the Entertainment District Arc, aka Chapter 2 of the game’s Story Mode. I was able to explore parts of the entertainment district, particularly the courtesan houses. The mission was to help find the three wives of Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps.

One of the houses featured Daki, a demon from the Twelve Kizuki, and the encounter led to a battle. If you have played any of CyberConnect2’s games, you should feel right at home with the combat, with the third-person view and the crazy anime-like fighting.

Audio Language

Fans of the English dub will be happy to know that the English voice actors are back, including Zach Aguilar as Tanjiro, Abby Trott as Nezuko, Aleks Le as Zenitsu, and Bryce Papenbrook as Inosuke. In addition to the English audio, there is the Japanese audio for the purists.

Features and Bonuses

The game has a new Gear system that allows players to customize their loadout for battle. One item can increase your resistance to poison, or another can slowly regenerate your health. There are three slots, and some items can fill up more than one slot.

If you haven’t played the first game, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 comes with The Path of a Demon Slayer mode that lets players fight in previously important battles.

If you link your save data from the first game, you’ll get bonuses including Academy Tanjiro, Academy Nezuko, Academy Zenitsu, Academy Inosuke, Academy Giyu, and Academy Shinobu.

You can unlock Hinatsuro, Makio and Suma as one playable character by linking the save data for Sweep the Board!, a tabletop video game developed by CyberConnect2. Furthermore, you unlock the battle attire for the three.

Release Info

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and Nintendo Switch on August 5, 2025. The Digital Deluxe Edition has an early release on July 31st. The standard game retails for $59.99, with the Digital Deluxe retailing for $69.99.

Lines started to grow early in the day as brave costumed cosplayers and noncosplayers alike braved the morning heat on a cloudless day to get into Peacock Theater. The capacity was expected to be high, but despite that, the queue to get in was well organized.

Once attendees were all seated, the musicians took their places and performed a series of themes from Demon Slayer’s first season, followed by a medley of themes from Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and finally the soundtrack for a preview of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.

During the program, voice actor Natsuki Hanae (Tanjio Kamado) came out to do some line readings for a couple of iconic moments in Season 1.

As a surprise, he was later joined by English voice actor Aleks Le (Zenitsu Agatsuma) for a scene in which Tanjiro restrains a dramatically lonely and insecure Zenitsu from bothering a young woman. The wild banter between the voice actors due to the alternation of two different languages elicited loud laughs from the audience and was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the performance.

Overall, the event was a great gift to participating Demon Slayer fans that simultaneously paid tribute to the series’ best moments while adding fuel to the anticipatory excitement surrounding Infinity Castle.

Yes, Aniplex is teaming up with Anime Expo, the largest anime convention in North America, to host an exclusive live performance on July 4th at the Peacock Theater to celebrate the music of our favorite main character slayer, Tanjiro Kamado, during his Unwavering Resolve arc (the first season). You can expect Natsuki Hanae to perform (Japanese voice actor for Tanjiro) as well as other surprise appearances during this highly anticipated panel!

This celebration is the perfect lead-up to the first movie of the three-part film series, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle,” which will be released in the United States on September 12, 2025.

In Demon Slayer, Nezuko is a unique demon and the younger sister of Tanjiro, who protects her from other hunters.

“When I audition for stuff, I never know what’s going to hit,” Trott tells Nerd Reactor. “Demon Slayer, I had heard of like a couple weeks before I got the audition, and I was thinking, ‘Oh, that anime. They’re making an anime of this manga. This premise sounds really cool. I’ll probably watch it.’ And then a couple weeks later, I got the audition. So I knew what that was, but I did not know how popular it would become. And I think COVID also drove the popularity of Demon Slayer and a lot of other anime because people were stuck at home watching anime.”

This year is a big year for Dandadan and Demon Slayer. The theatrical release of Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, which contains the first three episodes of the second season, is set to release in theaters starting in May. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle will release in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2025.

The Demon Slayer manga was released in 2016, and it has become a huge property with the anime series, films and merchandise. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train grossed over $507 million worldwide at the box office.

“And with Dandadan, too, I didn’t know that it already had kind of a cult following,” Trott said. “I just received the audition. I got two clips to watch to do two scenes. And I remember I watched the scenes, and I felt like this show was special. It was just the way, especially Wakayama-san’s performance, the way it resonated with me. It felt like something extra.”

In Dandadan, Momo and Okarun are two teenagers who receive powers as they deal with ghost and alien threats.

“I just had a good feeling about it, and I thought I would like the show, but I didn’t know that it was going to be like an incredibly popular show,” Trott said about Dandadan. “So that was one that I remember. I auditioned and I thought, ‘Man, I can think of like several actors who I would love to hear as Momo in this dub. I don’t know if I’m going to book this one, but it sure looks cool.’ So I hope I can be a part of it at some stage, you know, and then I booked Momo, and I was so excited just because it’s such a fun premise. I’m into sci-fi stuff. I love ghost stories and all of that. Together with this kind of romance with Okarun, it’s just such a unique show.”

Abby started as an actor in Japan. Her main job there was a children’s show where she taught kids English as she traveled all around Japan.

“I ended up later moving back to the United States to pursue voiceover specifically,” Trott explained. “And my first voiceover – my real first gig, I would say, in the United States came when I won a contest that was hosted by Bang Zoom! They’re a studio that dubs a lot of anime. They record other things as well. And they did this contest on YouTube called Perfect Idol. And I entered this contest. And not a lot of people know it. It’s really cute. They’re short. I think five-minute episodes.

“Yui Horie, the singer, is kind of the star in Japanese, and she voices this android, Miss Monochrome, who has a pet Roomba. And so that’s the role that I got to do. And I had so much fun doing that show. I loved everything about it. I loved every aspect of doing voiceover. And dubbing anime was really interesting. I was a theater major. When you think about acting, dubbing anime is not the first thing that comes to mind. But I’ve always been an anime fan since my early teens. So it was just a really cool thing to get to do. And I’m still doing it.”

Last week on July 26, the artist knew how to get the crowd excited as she switched from singing her songs to engaging with the audience with fun and friendly competitions. LiSA had different wardrobe changes that ranged from rock star attire to a traditional kimono outfit that fit with the different types of songs.

She ended the night with “Gurenge” from Demon Slayer, one of the most popular manga/anime franchises. It was an amazing performance with the catchy and fast-paced song and her amazing voice. Afterward, LiSA left the stage, and the crowd started to chant “encore.” She came back to the stage a few minutes later and performed three more songs. After a lengthy set, the artist was still able to hold the audience’s attention.

Crunchyroll’s Free Concert Series

Crunchyroll’s free concert series this year ended with a One Piece concert on Saturday, July 27. It was held at the same location as LiSA’s concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, which was right behind the San Diego Convention Center. The streaming service has been giving back to fans, with previous concerts including a Dragon Ball Z concert in 2022 at SDCC featuring Dragon Ball singer Hiroki Takahashi and the Night of Live Music at Anime NYC.

This marks the performer’s first time performing in the U.S. in nearly 10 years.

In addition, Crunchyroll and Toei Animation are teaming up for The One Piece 25th Anniversary Symphony Voyage featuring the San Diego Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, July 27 at 7 p.m. (Doors open at 5 p.m.)

The concerts will be free to all San Diego Comic-Con badge holders. Space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Although Crunchyroll has not yet disclosed release dates, this three-part cinematic experience represents the final arc and culmination of the beloved, award-winning anime Shonen series.

The Legacy of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge, published under SHUEISHA’s JUMP COMICS, the series consists of 23 volumes and boasts over 150 million copies in circulation. Since its debut in 2018, the franchise has captivated millions of fans worldwide. The story begins with Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who discovers that a demon has slaughtered his family. Determined to avenge his family and restore his sister Nezuko, a demon transformed into one of their own, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba first premiered in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc, followed by the blockbuster feature film Mugen Train in October 2020. Subsequently, the TV series Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc aired from 2021 through 2022. In 2023, the Swordsmith Village Arc debuted on Crunchyroll, following the theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village. In 2024, the Hashira Training Arc premiered after the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To Hashira Training.

Crunchyroll will release the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy in theaters at an unreleased date. In the meantime, fans can stream the entire series on Crunchyroll.
