The Silent Hill 2 soundtrack is brought to life thanks to composer Akira Yamaoka, who has worked on Silent Hill, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4: The Room, and many more. Konami and Mondo have partnered up for the Silent Hill 2 Game Soundtrack 2XLP featuring cover design by Sara Deck.

Some of the chilling highlights include “Theme of Laura,” “Promise (Reprise),” “The Day of Night,” “Blank Fairy,” and “Promise.” There are 30 tracks total, which aligns with the original soundtrack, and the music ranges from the feeling of something familiar to a place where your worst nightmares exist.

The vinyl is sold out on the Mondo website, but third-party stores are selling it on Amazon.

The music of Death Stranding includes the songs featured in the video game and the Death Stranding (Original Score) album. For the latter, Ludvig Forsell is attached as the composer, who will also be working on the upcoming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. His credits include Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Belle, P.T., and Boy Kills World. Yes, he has worked with Hideo Kojima on many projects.

In Death Stranding, the haunting and beautiful highlights include “Once There Was an Explosion,” “Alone We Have No Future,” “The Face of Our New Hope,” “BB’s Theme,” and more. The score utilizes sci-fi synth, percussion, strings, and choirs.

That’s not all, the game is getting the Hollywood treatment with a Death Stranding movie. Today, Kojima Productions and A24 have announced its director and writer, Michael Sarnoski, who has helmed films such as A Quiet Place: Day One and Pig. He’s also attached to directing and writing the upcoming Death of Robin Hood.

Here’s the film’s description: “Death Stranding will delve into the mysteries surrounding the ‘Death Stranding’ – a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead, bringing forth nightmarish creatures into a fragmented world on the brink of collapse.”

The news comes after Kojima Productions revealed a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at SXSW. The sequel will be available on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. For fans who want to experience the music, a concert tour will be headed worldwide.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and brings back Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Troy Baker. They are joined by Luca Marinelli, George Miller, and Elle Fanning.

Nerd Reactor had the chance to chat with Reedus about Sam having a crew in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Kojima’s sense of humor, the tone of the sequel, and how he’s careful of talking about the game due to Hideo Kojima yelling at him.

“I just saw it actually but it’s crazy,” Norman Reedus tells Nerd Reactor about watching the trailer during the Saturn Awards back in February. “It’s slightly different. It’s got a sort of an aggressive tone to it. which the first game didn’t have as much. There was something passive about the first, something hopeful. This is kind of like fighting for that. It’s got more [makes rough sound] grrrrr.”

Even though Sam had help from people, he was more of a lone protagonist in the first game. With the second game, he’ll have a core group who will aid him on his mission.

“Oh, that’s bananas,” Reedus reacted to Troy Baker’s Higgs fighting with a guitar. “There’s a lot of crazy stuff in it. Yeah, but that group, that core group, that’s not just Fragile and Sam. There’s like a crew now.”

On Hideo Kojima’s sense of humor including interacting with the mirror as Sam:

“It’s just Hideo,” the actor said. “He’s got a fun nature to him, so he puts in all these little things. Yeah, that’s very Hideo though.”

Now Reedus has been more careful about what he says of Death Stranding because he doesn’t want Kojima to get mad.

“Every time I say something about that game [Death Stranding] on the internet or a talk show or whatever and Hideo hasn’t said it first, he calls and he yells at me,” Reedus explained. “So I’m not saying anything. He’s yelled at me several times.”

The Doc Had a Premiere Last Year

Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds had its premiere at the Tribeca Festival in New York City last year in June, with some outlets already sharing their reviews. The documentary has special appearances from Guillermo del Toro, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Chvrches, and more.

From the reviews I’ve read, it sounds like the documentary will focus on the formation of the independent studio, Kojima Productions, and the making of Death Stranding. That means we won’t be getting into the nitty gritty of his time at Konami and working on the Metal Gear franchise. Additionally, don’t expect to see any discussions about Kojima’s breakup with the Japanese studio.

Kotaku was not kind to the film, calling it “The Worst Kind of Fan Service.”

“Connecting Worlds is for the superfan who is terrified to challenge Kojima’s reputation,” the outlet said. “It avoids the topic of Konami (which Kojima left behind after three decades, establishing both his career and cementing a somewhat angsty reputation) altogether, and spends the majority of its runtime on cherry-picked moments from Death Stranding’s production.”

Axios agrees with Kotaku about the disappointment in not seeing the Konami story, saying that the documentary is “a missed opportunity” due to it skipping “most of Kojima’s three-decade-long career making games in Japan, and only vaguely refers to the reason for Death Stranding’s existence.”

Kojima Productions was formed as an independent video game studio in 2015 after Kojima left Konami, and it could dictate its projects and choose which platform to develop for.

Death Stranding 2 will be released in 2025 and stars Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker.

Today, movie studio A24 and video game studio Kojima Productions have announced that they will be teaming up to bring the world of Sam Porter Bridges to life. The independent movie studio’s credits include the Oscar-winning film, Everything Everywhere All At Once,

A new art has been released with the A24 logo getting the Death Stranding treatment with the letters dripping.

In a couple of days, December 16th will mark the 8th anniversary of Kojima Productions, and there’s a lot of celebration to be had. A24 and Kojima Productions are promising to deliver the mysteries of the apocalyptic event known as the “Death Stranding,” With an already impressive cast in the video game, will moviegoers get to see Reedus, Seydoux, and Baker reprise their roles in the live-action adaptation? Let’s hope so!

Hideo Kojima said: “A24 was born into this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no other. The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative. I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. Their innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years. Now, we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are a lot of “game adaptation films” out there but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. Kojima has been super busy since he announced during The Game Awards 2023 that Kojima Productions and filmmakers like Jordan Peele are working on another game, OD, which will bridge the gap even more between cinema and video games.

This week, Kojima Productions also announced that its documentary, Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ next year. It will follow Hideo Kojima and his studio as they create the digital world of Death Stranding.
