One of the most iconic songs from the series is “Blue,” which was performed by singer Mai Yamane and the Seatbelts and was the ending song for the final episode of Cowboy Bebop. (That ending still gets to me after all these years.) 25 years later after the song’s premiere, Yoko Kanno is back with the new version, which was featured in a Honda TV commercial.

The Cowboy Bebop composer collaborated with 16-year-old musician Maya, which is also the latter’s first release. Now fans can listen to the full song, which was made available today. You can check out the official music visualizer below.

Honda’s “Move” ad was directed by Sho Yanagisawa (known for Pocari Sweat for Otsuka Seiyaku, “Father and Daughter” for Nishi-Nippon Railways) and depicts a dreamlike scenery of people moving through the world freely, inspired by the dreamlike ending of Cowboy Bebop.

Maya is currently in high school and has been a rising musician via her TikTok account. Her cover of “Just the Two of Us” has gained over 3.8 million views.

“Even after 25 years, the longing for freedom never leaves us,” Yoko Kanno said. “With Maya’s voice as a new set of wings, the song continues to soar even higher, even deeper, into the blue. The imagery Mr. Daichi Yasuda explores is an invitation to a journey for eternity.”

“I’m beyond honored and happy to announce the release of a song that features my voice,” Maya said about getting to work with Kanno. “In a world where it can sometimes be very challenging to feel ‘free,’ I sang my heart out in hopes of bringing freedom to as many people as possible. The recording session with Ms. Yoko Kanno was a learning experience for me and a very inspirational one. As a young artist who is just starting out, I cherish and treasure every moment spent with Ms. Kanno, who I admire so much.”

It is supervised by Yoko Kanno and features select tracks from different Cowboy Bebop albums (Blue, No Disc and Knocking on Heaven’s Door) such as “The Real Folk Blues,” “Cosmic Dare,” “Call Me Call Me,” “Gotta Knock a Little Harder,” “Blue,” and more.

Cowboy Bebop’s The Real Folk Blues Legends 2LP vinyl will be released starting January 26, 2024.

However, if you order straight from Japan, CDJapan is selling the boxset for $228.84 (at the time of this writing). With shipping to Southern California, it came out to around $300 in total. That’s still cheaper than ordering from the States. I looked at the quantity, and there are 11 left in stock.

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun Stampede will be part of the Challenger Series cards, with decks having unique mechanics. Both Challenger Series will have two pre-constructed tournament-ready decks featuring two-character cards, and a Collector’s Booster Pack of six foil cards with alternate artwork known as alt-cards.

The sneak peek reveals UniVersus CCG Challenger Series cards for Spike Spiegel and Vash the Stampede.

Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament

Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament booster box will be available on February 23, 2024, at your local game store and is now available to pre-order at participating locations. Each booster box will contain 24 packs with 12 cards per pack. Each pack contains 1 character card, 1 reprint from the original Yu Yu Hakusho set, and 10 extra cards of different rarities (6 commons, 3 uncommons, and 1 rare, ultra rare, or secret rare) per pack.

The participating game stores will be having a release event on February 23, 2024, for Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament where you’ll get the chance to receive the victory-stamped promo card and playmat and be invited to the online Yu Yu Hakusho Wish Tournament event if you win.

UVS Games recently announced Attack on Titan for UniVersus CCG in 2024. The cards will feature artwork from the manga including fan-favorite characters from the franchise.

One such activity will have fans training like their favorite anime heroes with Crunchyroll’s Ultimate Anime Fitness Challenge at Hardcore Fitness.

“Crunchyroll’s Ultimate Anime Fitness Challenge, putting bodies in motion for a unique training arc. Crunchyroll subscribers and SDCC badge holders looking to get swole (it’s really a non-intensive, light workout) can sign up for sessions at 9:00AM and 10AM on Friday, Jul 21st and Saturday, July 22nd. Fitness writer, influencer and anime fan Charles Thorp will take trainees through accessible fitness routines inspired by anime heroes—weight training, self-defense and more!”

The streaming service will have a show floor, which will include an interactive booth featuring the Jujutsu Kaisen Experience. There will also be massive and immersive show floor pieces, panels, giveaways, and the first-ever anime exhibits at the Comic-Con Museum. Crunchyroll will have an advanced booth at San Deigo Comic-Con (Booth #4135) with scenes and sounds from its anime lineup. Those who visit the booth will receive the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero wristbands. Posters for Solo Leveling and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and giveaway art cards for Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia will be available.

Crunchyroll’s anime exhibits at Comic-Con Museum start on Tuesday, July 18 at 10 am PT. A statue will be on display featuring My Hero Academia’s All Might and All for One. Mondo has partnered up with the anime streaming service to honor Cowboy Bebop’s 25th anniversary with an exhibit that features 28 never-before-seen commissioned art pieces.
