Meet the 6 Creatures in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ New Featurette

Dungeons & Dragons is a beloved tabletop RPG set in a fantasy world filled with all types of beings and creatures including elves, dwarves, humans, dragons and owlbears. Yes, the latter is a creature that’s a mix of an owl and a bear. Paramount Pictures has released a new Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves featurette with the main cast talking about what creatures moviegoers and fans can expect. In addition to the owlbear, expect other creatures like mimics, dragons, and more.
1. Owlbears

In the featurette, Chris Pine talks about the owlbear, a ferocious creature that’s part bear and part owl. These giant creatures have sharp talons and a mighty roar. They can be seen in forested areas and are known for their aggressive personality. They do have a warm heart for those they care about, and that can include other creatures, humans, and those in their pack.
2. Mimic

Next up is the Mimic, which is introduced by Michelle Rodriguez. The creature is a known obstacle in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. They can shapeshift and are often disguised as a treasure chest or other enticing objects for adventurers. Once the victim is in range, the mimic reveals its true nature and attacks them with its tongue and teeth.
3. Gelatinous Cube

Another fascinating creature is the gelatinous cube, a transparent cube that engulfs its victim. It is often found inside dark dungeons, and when it engulfs the body of its prey, it can slowly dissolve them thanks to its digestive enzymes. It’s a mindless creature, so it’s best for adventurers to avoid this creature by checking their surroundings.
4. Displacer Beast

Then there is the displacer beast, which is introduced by Justice Smith. It’s a creature similar to a black panther, except it has six legs and two long, prehensile tentacles. It also has the power to displace an image of itself just a few feet away from its original location, making it hard to strike in combat.
5. Intellect Devourer

Adventurers do not want to cross the Intellect Devourer, which is introduced by Regé-Jean Page. It’s a giant brain with legs that can consume a person’s mind and memories, controlling them like a puppet. In a clip from the film, Page’s character warns his party about the creature, which tends to strike prey with higher intellect. However, these creatures walked past the team, insulting their intelligence.
6. Themberchaud, the Red Dragon

Finally, the video explores the Red Dragon known as Themberchaud, a giant creature with crimson scales, horns and sharp claws. Just like Smaug from The Hobbit, this dragon is attracted to treasure and wealth. Themberchaud is cunning and will use his intelligence to trick his rivals in battle. He can breathe fire and deal devastating physical attacks. Fighting this dragon will be tough, so it’s best to stroke his ego instead.
What other creatures will be in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves? During San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount Pictures created a real-life tavern, and inside it, there were creatures teased including the Beholder statue. There are definitely more creatures to be seen in the upcoming film, and let’s hope the Beholder is among them.
