The ride will take guests to a hectic and frantic race utilizing advanced technology like augmented reality (AR) with projection mapping technology and real set pieces along a moving ride track.

Each kart fits 4 riders, and everyone will get a view of the ride thanks to the stadium-style seating. Each rider will get to wear a pair of head-mounted AR goggles to really immerse themselves in the video game elements of the ride. The goal is to win the Golden Cup and defeat Team Bowser as riders traverse through land, underwater, and clouds.

With the wristband, guests will be able to keep individual and team scores, collect digital coins and retrieve keys after winning challenges all around the area. It will also have extra-special interactions with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.

8. Bowser’s Castle

The land wouldn’t be complete without Mario’s arch-nemesis, Bowser. The King of the Koopas has taken residence there with his fortress, and it’s the location of Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Guests will see a large sculpture of the villain, and to get an idea of the size, check out the photo from Super Nintendo World in Japan above.

The queue line inside has winding corridors that lead guests to the hall of medallions and trophies. They will learn how Bowser plans to defeat Team Mario and win the Golden Cup.

9. Interactivity Is Everywhere

There will be plenty of interactive elements inside the land for those with the Power-Up Band. These include punching “?” Blocks, collecting digital coins, looking through AR binoculars, and more. There are four Key Challenges where guests can collect keys from Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant and Thwomp in order to access the boss battle with Bowser Jr.

10. Meet Your Favorite Super Mario Characters

You’ll be able to meet Toad at Toadstool Cafe via a digital representation, and you can see the rest in the flesh including Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach. Characters like Mario and Luigi capture their video game counterparts thanks to the tech that can make them blink along with lip movements.
