Luther: The Fallen Sun Gets New Photos and Release Date

Luther is a British crime thriller that aired on BBC One back in 2010 and stars Idris Elba as the titular character. The last of the series aired in 2019, and soon fans will get to embark on another mystery with a new film that continues after the events of the series. Today Netflix has released first-look photos along with revealing the release date and full title.

The film is titled Luther: The Fallen Sun, and it will be headed to Netflix in March 2023.

About Luther: The Fallen Sun

In Luther: The Fallen Sun — an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga reimagined for film — a gruesome serial killer is terrorizing London while brilliant but disgraced detective John Luther (Idris Elba) sits behind bars. Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary. The film also stars Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley, who returns as Martin Schenk.

The film is directed by Jamie Payne (Luther) and written by Neil Cross (Luther). It’s produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, David Ready, Neil Cross, and Idris Elba. The executive producers are Dan Finlay, Brendan Ferguson, Miki Emmerich, Kris Thykier, and Priscilla Parish.
