Harry Potter fans have been blessed with lots of wonderful merchandise including the wands at Universal Studios’ The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Warner Bros. Entertainment is taking it to a whole new level to bring the magic to your home with the Harry Potter Magic Caster Wand. We had the chance to check out these wands, and they are truly magical thanks to the power of Wi-Fi and smart devices.

The Wands

These premium wands are available in three styles: Loyal, Defiant, and Honourable. There’s also the sold-out Heroic wand that was available for a limited time. The latter was definitely one of my favorite designs, with the Loyal and Defiant wands coming at a close second. The Heroic wand has a sleek look with intricate swirls near the center. Loyal features a round orb at the top. The Defiant wand has a slightly bent design with cracks. The Honourable has a more rugged and aged design, perfect for wizards who want to feel wise. All the wands can emit colorful lights.

When opening up the wand’s box, the familiar Harry Potter theme plays. It’s a nice touch that will have any fan excited to play with the product. It features a USB-C connection for charging.

Hands-On with the Ultimate Experience

Warner Bros. invited us out to test out the Harry Potter Magic Caster Wand at the Warner Bros. Studio, and the team converted a room into the ultimate Harry Potter experience complete with inspired paintings and decor. Yes, all the bells and whistles were added to the room including a compatible smart TV, speakers and lights. Together, the visuals and sounds create an amazing moment when casting a spell.

The app helps to connect the experience, and like an RPG video game, the more you play, the more spells you unlock and level up. Starting spells include Expelliarmus, Colovaria, Lumos and more. When performing a spell, you have to press and hold the activation button, do the motion of the spell in the air, and then release the activation button. It can take a bit of practice, but doing a successful spell feels very cathartic and wonderful.

When we performed the Lumos spell, the lights turned blue, a windy sound came from the speakers, and the TV had a character lighting up the inside of the cave. For Colovaria, the room changed to a different color and on the screen, we saw an animal changing its color. The Meteolojinx spell activated lightning and clouds on the TV complete and lights flashing with thunder booming out of the speakers.

You can also set your own spirit animal and call upon it with the Expecto Patronum spell. For the demo, the fox spirit animal came running around on the TV.
