Wacom provides one of the premier tools for digital artists, and it has recently released the Wacom Cintiq Pro 27, a pen display with plenty of old and new features. Digital artists and content creators can benefit from the new product including the bigger screen, new pen and touch technology, and customizable ergonomic enhancements.

The Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 is made for all types of creative professionals including 2D illustrators, 3D modelers, animators, game developers, virtual production artists, and more. The large digital canvas allows creatives more room to design and the enhanced performance is applied to the pen, faster refresh rates, vivid colors, and better ergonomics. Even with the 27″ screen, it has a smaller footprint than the Cintiq Pro 24.

We had the chance to test out the pen display during San Diego Comic-Con 2022, and the refresh rate was responsive and drawing on the display was smooth and felt great. The 27-inch display is a wonderful size for designing and drawing, and since I’m used to drawing on paint canvas and sketchbooks, I felt right at home.

We were shown the Pro Pen 3 customization, and there are really useful features since not all artists are the same. The pen has interchangeable components that allow the user to change the weight, barrel size and center of gravity of the pen. This really gives power to the creators, making those short or long sessions feel more comfortable and less straining. It features 8,192 levels of pressure and battery-free operation, so a creator can really fine-tune their work and won’t have to worry about stopping if they’re having momentum. There are three programmable side-switches, allowing for more customization and quick access to functions.

The 27″ display has a refresh rate of 120Hz, and when drawing on it, there was little to no latency. The 4K resolution features 10-bit color, but since I was just doodling cartoon figures and wasn’t working with a highly detailed 3D model, I couldn’t really check out the details. From what I’ve seen so far, it looked crisp and clean from the doodles on display.

Designers will be happy to know that the display meets the Pantone standard and is Pantone and Pantone SkinTone validated.

The Cintiq Pro 27 pen display is available at the Wacom eStore, Canada eStore and select retailers. The suggested retail price is $3,499.95 for the pen display and $499.95 for the custom stand.
