Todd Phillips has been teasing the sequel to the 2019 Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix, which grossed over $1 billion at the global box office. Today, the director has posted a short video featuring two silhouettes, officially confirming the involvement of Lady Gaga, the release date, and the official title of Joker: Folie à Deux.

Both Todd Phillips and Lady Gaga posted the video, which features the latter and Phoenix coming together in silhouette form. The song used in the video is “Cheek to Cheek,” which was written for Fred Astaire’s 1935 musical, Top Hat.

Folie à Deux roughly translates to “Madness for Two,” which is perfect for a film that focuses on the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in theaters on October 4, 2024.

Joaquin Phoenix will be returning as Arther Fleck/Joker, and with Lady Gaga on board, we’ll most likely see a version of Harley Quinn.

It’s said that the movie will be a musical, and with Lady Gaga in the film, we can hopefully expect the singer/actor to show off her voice.

Joker was released back in 2019 and was inspired by films like Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy. The film even featured Taxi Driver‘s Robert De Niro, a talk show host that humiliated the titular character.

The film won the Golden Lion award at the 76th Venice International Film Festival, and it became the first R-rated film to gross over $1 billion at the box office.
