Thor: Love and Thunder – New ScreenX, IMAX and Character Posters, Plus TV Spot

Thor: Love and Thunder is the next installment in the Thor film series starring Chris Hemsworth, and he is back as the Norse god of thunder. This time, he’ll be facing a god killer by the name of Gorr, played by Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). This week is Thor week, and new posters for Thor: Love and Thunder have been released to promote the different formats that the film will be presented in including ScreenX and IMAX. The character posters and TV spot have also been released.

ScreenX Poster

The ScreenX poster is very colorful and has a ’70s psychedelic vibe with Gorr inside the lightning bolt design at the top. On the front is Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Russell Crowe as Zeus, and Taika Waititi as Korg.

ScreenX is a format that projects footage on three walls inside a theater, giving audiences a 270-degree viewing angle. It’s a very immersive experience where you have to see it in person to truly believe it. Check out our ScreenX review of Top Gun: Maverick.

IMAX Poster

The IMAX Poster is still colorful but is more muted than the ScreenX poster. It is reminiscent of those late ’70s and early ’80s poster designs like Star Wars: A New Hope and Conan the Barbarian.

Thor: Love and Thunder on IMAX will feature almost 35 minutes of expanded aspect ratio exclusive in IMAX. The film was shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras and audiences will experience the 1.90:1 aspect ratio, providing up to 26% more picture compared to the regular screen.

About Thor: Love and Thunder

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in U.S. theaters on July 8, 2022.
