Trailer for Jo Koy’s New Movie, ‘Easter Sunday,’ Is Out

Jo Koy is one of the top stand-up comedians who has three Netflix specials under his belt, with a fourth Netflix special underway. Last week during CinemaCon, the comic made an appearance at the Universal Pictures presentation and made the audience filled with exhibitors laugh out loud as he talked about his mom, poking fun of his fellow presenter, and more. He was there to show off the new trailer for his upcoming film, Easter Sunday, which takes place in a day and follows a Filipino American family. Today, the trailer has dropped online for everyone to see.

Jo Koy’s Easter Sunday is the first studio film to focus on a Filipino American family, and the trailer dropped during Asian American and Pacific Islander History Month.

Stand-up comedy sensation Jo Koy (Jo Koy: In His Elements, Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot) stars as a man returning home for an Easter celebration with his riotous, bickering, eating, drinking, laughing, loving family, in this love letter to his Filipino-American community.

Joining Jo Koy are Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley series), Tia Carrere (True Lies, Wayne’s World films), Brandon Wardell (Curb Your Enthusiasm series), Eva Noblezada (Broadway’s Hadestown), Lydia Gaston (Broadway’s The King and I), Asif Ali (WandaVision), Rodney To (Parks and Recreation series), Eugene Cordero (The Good Place series), Jay Chandrasekhar (I Love You, Man), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) and Lou Diamond Phillips (Courage Under Fire).

The film is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers, The Dukes of Hazzard, I Love You, Man), from a script by Ken Cheng (Sin City Saints series) and Kate Angelo (Sex Tape) based on a story by Ken Cheng.

Easter Sunday hits theaters on August 5, 2022.
