The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim – Concept Art and Release Date Revealed

It’s a huge week for fans of The Lord of the Rings. Yesterday, the teaser trailer for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released during the Super Bowl. Today, the release date and new concept art have been announced for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation’s upcoming anime film.

The concept art was created by Weta Workshop and features the Breach of the walls of Edoras, the capital of Rohan. Here we see the enemies with weapons, torches and one giant Oliphaunt.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Release Date

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released in theaters. Secondly, the release date for the anime is April 12, 2024. That makes it 21 years since the release of The Return of the King.

About The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) is directing the anime from the screenplay by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou and script by Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews. Philippa Boyens, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, is the executive producer and Joseph Chou (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) is producing. To bring back more creative team members from The Lord of the Rings films, Richard Taylor and Tolkien illustrator John Howe will be on board.

Synopsis: The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim explores and expands the untold story behind the fortress of Helm’s Deep, delving into the life and bloodsoaked times of one of Middle-earth’s most legendary figures; the mighty King of Rohan – Helm Hammerhand.

Sola Entertainment is working on the animation, and its credits include Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045, Shenmue: The Animation, Halo Legends, Appleseed Alpha, and more. The film will be distributed in theaters worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
