Squid Game is the number series on Netflix, beating out other popular series like The Witcher, Stranger Things and Bridgerton. The South Korean drama has become a global phenomenon, where people dressed up as characters from the show during the Halloween season. On October 23, Netflix recreated the Squid Game in Koreatown, California complete with the giant, robot doll and actors dressed up as the masked guards in red jumpsuits and contestants in green tracksuits. Nerd Reactor was invited to check out the Los Angeles event, which was located at the Love Hour parking lot.

There were a few games on the parking lot of Love Hour, including Ddajkji. Men in suits carrying suitcases challenged people to the traditional South Korean game played using folded paper tiles. If you win, you receive a Dalgona candy, a Korean sweet made with melted sugar and baking soda. In Squid Game, contestants had to remove the inside piece without breaking it, and some had interesting ways to achieve this including licking the backside.

We were able to watch the contestants play a game of Red Light, Green Light as the guards in jumpsuits watched. If the contestant loses, the guards will tell them they are out of the game. This is a better alternative than the losers in the actual series, where they met their end thanks to the giant, robot doll.

There was a photo booth where guests could take a headshot with a pink background, just like in the show. Other photo-ops include the bunkbeds. Celebrity David Choe was in attendance along with influencers like Eric Nam and Austin Cho. Food, boba, Dalgano Coffee Boba and Mochi Donuts were available from Love Hour and Dragon Boba.
