What happens when you have Neil Patrick Harris reliving his childhood in a Christmas movie? We have ’80s kids fighting over one of the most popular video game consoles in history in 8-Bit Christmas, an upcoming comedy based on the book of the same name. The centerpiece is the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), a video game console that was the craze back in the ’80s. Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for the film, which will be available on HBO Max later this month.

’80s kids will definitely feel right at home with the 8-Bit Christmas trailer. Witness parents and kids going into the ends of the Earth to find the popular Nintendo console. The trailer pokes fun at gaming culture including stigmas on how some parents think video games are bad for kids.

8-Bit Christmas plays on how obsessed people can be when trying to get a popular holiday item. This is very reminiscent of the comedy Jingle All the Way starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad.

In addition to the trailer drop, Warner Bros. released the key art featuring the cast together, forming a Christmas tree with the NES as the Christmas tree topper.
