Nocturnal Wonderland 2021 Was a Magical Experience at Glen Helen Park

Southern California ravers are blessed with so many EDM events and festivals all over, and Insomniac is definitely pivotal in bringing out some of the craziest and biggest ones including Escape Halloween, Countdown, and Beyond Wonderland. Another big festival is Nocturnal Wonderland, and this year it was held once again at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA. It was two days and two nights of dancing mayhem featuring top DJs like Deadmau5, 3LAU, Audien, Seven Lions, Flux Pavilion, and more.

Although the hours are earlier for Nocturnal Wonderland when comparing other events, what makes this a truly magical festival is the location. Glen Helen Regional Park is a huge, grassy area surrounded by mountains. When the sun sets, it felt like guests were in a world of their own, isolated from the rest of civilization. The stage lighting shines bright against the mountain backdrop as if the nocturnal gods above are shouting, “This is our spot, and we’re here to celebrate!”

Nocturnal Wonderland 2021 had 3 huge stages: Wolves’ Den, Labyrinth, and Sunken Garden. There’s a smaller stage, Owloch Grove, which was one of our favorite spots. The main entrance was near Labyrinth, and to get to the rest of the stages, you would go downhill through the sea of crowd. Walking downward, our left side was filled with booths for food, drinks, etc. The right side was where the stages were with bright, colorful lights moving across above us. When it was nighttime, the area between the booths and the stages was dark, and the only lights we could see were from light-up accessories, LED poi, and LED orbitals.

With Labyrinth being the first stage guests would see upon entering, it was a sight to see. This was where we saw Z-Trip perform, and although there was a huge crowd, there were some open spots all around. If you wanted to get up close, you could do it without problems. This was my first time seeing Z-Trip perform live, and he was amazing. He’s a DJ and producer with more of a hip-hop style, and he manually mixes and scratches with vinyl, making his sets stand out from other DJs at the festival. He was one of the highlights of the event.

Wolves’ Den is the main stage featuring DJs like Deadmau5, Nghtmre, Audien, Seven Lions, Flux Pavilion, 3LAU, The Glitch Mob, and more. We were able to catch Seven Lions and 3LAU there, and they really knew how to get the crowd pumped with their sets.

What’s great about festivals like Nocturnal Wonderland is that if you’re not feeling a particular headliner, you can walk over to the next stage and see if the other artist is putting you in the mood.

Owloch Grove is the place to be when you want to feel the music but in a less hectic area. The people here were more at peace, and many were just relaxing in different parts of the area. If there truly is a place that puts the Nocturnal in Nocturnal Wonderland, it is Owloch Grove. Its colorful trees spread throughout as if we’re having a forest party, and it’s tucked away in the far corner, giving off that intimate and secluded vibe.

Nocturnal Wonderland 2021 was truly a magical experience filled with dancing, friendly people, beautiful sights, and of course, food, drinks, and alcohol. It was a lovely adventure that’s in the Southern California area, and it’s something we definitely would venture into again.
