Lionsgate held a presentation during CinemaCon 2021, and one of the films presented was Moonfall starring Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson. An outer space sequence was shown along with a teaser trailer, and this week, the announcement teaser has been released online. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich, known for Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, and it’s not surprising to see a film with worldwide destruction featuring chaos and mayhem.

Moonfall Announcement Teaser

The teaser doesn’t show much, but we do get a sense of global destruction and glimpses of the moon colliding with the blue planet. There’s something causing the moon to do what it’s doing, and we’re going to guess it’s aliens.

About Moonfall

In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believe her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Joining Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson are John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland.

It’s directed by Roland Emmerich and written by Emmerich & Harald Kloser & Spenser Cohen.
