Shang-Chi’s Andy Le, AKA Death Dealer, on How to Fight Like MCU Hero

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is coming to U.S. theaters on September 3rd, and it has already been getting positive reviews, with a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of this writing. (You can also check out my review here along with Mark Pacis’ Nerd Reactor Review.) The film follows the titular character (Simu Liu) as he tries to escape the legacy of his father, Wenwu (Tony Leung). Shang-Chi had the help of Death Dealer with his martial arts training, and we had the chance to train with the martial artist who plays him, Andy Le. He brought out his Martial Club team to whip me into shape, and it left my body sore the next day.

There are many steps to becoming as cool as Shang-Chi, and some examples include lots of stretching, practicing your strikes, and knowing how to take a hit. Stretching is important for any exercise, and with the right preparation, even you can learn to do the splits like Jean-Claude Van Damme or kick as high as Tony Jaa.

“If you want high kicks, the range of motion and ability to do the high-flipping kicks at different angles and levels, you’re going to need the split,” Le says about the importance of stretching.
