Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt Returning in Jungle Cruise Sequel: Ready the Puns!

With the latest weekend, Disney’s Jungle Cruise has grossed a total of over $100 million at the U.S. box office. This makes the worldwide box office numbers coming in at over $186 million. Then there’s also the numbers for its Disney+ Premiere Access opening with $30 million. Plus, this isn’t counting whatever number it has grossed so far on the streaming service. This is good news for Disney since it’s going forward on a Jungle Cruise sequel with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt returning.

The box office numbers have been good for the studio, especially during the current pandemic. Jungle Cruise is also fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with the majority of critics giving it positive reviews with 63%. Theatre audiences are enjoying the film with a high grade of A- on CinemaScore.

According to THR, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will be back for the Jungle Cruise sequel as Frank Wolff and Dr. Lily Houghton, respectively. Michael Green, who co-wrote the Disney theme park film, will be returning to pen the script. Director Jaume Collet-Serra is also looking to be returning. He’ll be joined by producers John David, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Returning as the executive producer is Scott Sheldon.

Jungle Cruise was released in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 30, 2021.
