Experience Fear Street in Recreated ’90s Video Store with Haunted Maze

Fear Street is the Netflix Movie Trilogy that’s based on the R. L. Stine book series of the same name, and the three films touch on different decades and century including the ’70s, ’90s and 1666. To celebrate the films, Netflix has recreated a ’90s video rental store that features an immersive haunted maze that will take you to Shadyside in 1994, 1978 and 1666. It’s open to the public starting today in West Hollywood, CA, and it’s a bone-chilling adventure for horror and Fear Street fans alike.

On the outside, it looks like just a regular ’90s video store rental. Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by a video store clerk who will help create a plastic membership card, just like in the old days. On the shelves are horror VHS movies, and the clerk’s counter has the bulky CRT monitors and old-school keyboards.

Once you have your membership card, you will be given a UV flashlight, which will help you on your journey into the darkness of Fear Street. The skull mask killer will stalk you, and you will be transported from the ’90s to the ’70s and even further back in time. There’s even a ’70s cabin with a camp counselor who will greet you.

Fear Street and horror fans will definitely want to check out this limited-time immersive experience before it’s gone. The only downside to this event is that it’s a very short activation, so be prepared to set your expectations lower.

Fear Street Rentals is available as a free first-come, first-serve experience at 8552 Melrose, West Hollywood in California. It’s open July 9th to July 20th (Wed-Sat: 5-11 pm, Sunday: 1-8 pm). It’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Fear Street Part 1: 1994 and Fear Street Part 2: 1978 are now available on Netflix, with Fear Street Part 3: 1666 coming July 16, 2021.
