Resident Evil Lady Dimitrescu sock puppet show: Here’s the rough translation

Lady Dimitrescu sock puppet show

Resident Evil Village is coming out in the first week of May, and the internet has been going crazy over Lady Dimitrescu since her debut. The hype is real with some fans proclaiming their love for the 9’6″ vampiric villain, and others showing their appreciation through art and cosplay.

Capcom has released a Lady Dimitrescu sock puppet show for its Japanese Biohazard (Resident Evil) YouTube channel, and it features the tall vampire as a sock puppet along with other characters from the game. It’s a cute and bubbly short that quickly turns dark in a comedic way filled with singing, dancing, and stylized blood.

Lady Dimitrescu gets bloodthirsty, Salvatore Moreau stumbles onto a chainsaw, and Karl Heisenberg greets an axe with his head. You know, the usual adorable puppet stuff.

Of course, those who know the Japanese language will get a better understanding of the video. I did ask a Japanese friend to help me with the translation, and the title translates to “Let’s Play at Biohazard Village.” Here’s a rough translation of the rest of the video:

“Come to the Biohazard village. It’s not scary. We are all a happy family.” Then they all introduce themselves. “Not scary at all!”

Lady Dimitrescu: “Everyone, bring a tool and gather around.”

Moreau: “Dimitrescu, big sis. What are we doing today?”

Lady Dimitrescu: “We are going to sing and draw at the same time!”

As she brings buckets of red paint, they try to figure out what to do with it, and that’s when Moreau slips onto the chainsaw.

Heisenberg: “Oh wow, a lot came out.”

Lady Dimitrescu: “What good timing! Yay, now we have enough red paint for everyone. Now let’s draw and sing!”

Lady Dimitrescu: “Red, red, red, what color is this? It’s the color of mama blood.”

This is when she starts to crave more blood.

Lady Dimitrescu: “I want to drink more!! More, more!”

Heisenberg: “Oh no, a mental switch inside big sis Dimitrescu is off!!!”

The video ends with the game release announcement and this message: “If you don’t buy the game, Lady Dimitrescu will suck your blood.”

That’s a very tempting offer, and I’m pretty sure there are fans who won’t mind that.

Puppet shows have existed in Japan, and the Lady Dimitrescu sock puppet show could be inspired by the 1960s series Hyokkori Hyoutan-jima (ひょっこりひょうたん島). Another possible inspiration for turning the characters into puppets is one of the lords of Resident Evil Village, Donna Beneviento. The mysterious woman in black controls a puppet named Angie, who appears in the puppet show.

Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.
