Tetris to get the Puma shoes treatment

Puma Tetris

Shoe companies have been collaborating with pop culture properties for some time now. Adidas has brought us shoes from Marvel, Game of Thrones, Toy Story, Dragon Ball Z and more. Reebok gave us the Alien Stompers, which is inspired by the shoes worn by Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley. Today, Puma has announced that it has created the Tetris collection, which includes shoes and apparel.

The Puma x Tetris collection includes futuristic and retro sneakers like the RS 9.8 and RS-X. Both of these have vibrant colors inspired by the game, and the Tetriminos can be seen on the heel. The RS-X has reflective trimmings, and the tongue features a 3D heat-cut Tetris logo. “Hard Drop” can be seen on the RS-X’s 3D heel, which is a reference to the game’s command of dropping the Tetriminos faster.

The apparel includes the Puma x Tetris XTG Track Jacket complete with the Puma cat logo printed on the chest and the Tetriminos organized to show off the shape of the classic Puma formstrip design. To finish off the look, there’s the Puma x Tetris t-shirt and Puma x Tetris XTG track pants.

Tetris is one of the most popular video games of all time, and you would have to be living under a rock if you have never heard of it. The block puzzle game was created by Rusian video game designer Alexey Pajitnov and premiered in 1984. (It’s starting to make sense that the game used “Korobeiniki,” a nineteenth-century Russian folk song. Now it’s known as the Tetris song.)

The Puma x Tetris collection will be available for adults and kids on PUMA.com, Puma stores and select retailers on October 17, 2019.

To get that geometric glow, the PUMA x TETRIS collection, available for adults and kids, drops globally on PUMA.com, PUMA stores and select retailers on October 17.
