Hasbro announced a crowdfunding campaign for its most ambitious Transformers figure yet, Unicron, a giant robot that devours planets. This is the biggest Transformers, and the asking price is $574.99. To make the evil planet eater a reality, the toy company is asking for 8,000 backers. Hasbro has released two videos, one showing off the Unicron conversion, and the other showing off the details of his robot mode.

Unicron is a beast, and there are a lot of moving parts. The conversion video below shows off all the details and what goes into changing him from a planet to a robot. Takara Tomy product designer Takashi Kunihiro was brought on board to showcase the transforming.

So far the campaign has 2,468 backers since its launch in July, and it will end on August 31. It’s almost the middle of August, and at this rate, it might not reach its goal. That means Unicron will not go into production. For now, Hasbro is going to need is a little energon, and a lot of luck. To back the Unicron campaign, visit HasbroPulse.com.

Unicron was featured as the main villain in the 1986 animated film, The Transformers: The Movie. The figure will be part of the Transformers War for Cybertron line.
