James Wan’s Aquaman made Warner Bros. a lot of money with $1.148 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s a no-brainer that a sequel is in the works, and the director said that he will tackle it if there’s a worthy script. Before that happens, he will be working on a New Line Cinema horror film.

Wan has told us that he wants to take a break from superheroes after Aquaman back in December.

“Listen, I’m trying not to think about other comic book characters right now,” Wan tells Nerd Reactor. “I’m just trying to survive this one… this guy. I’ve spent three years working on Aquaman, I’m kind of comic-booked out at this point. Superheroed out. [laughs] I do not want to think about another superhero character at this particular juncture.”

As for this untitled horror project, Variety reported that he’ll be working on the screenplay with Ingrid Bisu, and he’ll be producing it under the Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear. It’ll be financed by Starlight Media and Midas Innovation. The film is scheduled for a Los Angeles shoot in the fall.
