The Boys’ pop-up Butcher Shop in LA will include interactive theatre and food

The Boys

The Boys will have a surprise 2-day pop-up event running on Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28 along Fairfax Ave in Los Angeles. It will be an immersive theatrical and culinary experience, just in time for the release of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video on July 26. Those attending will have the chance to taste food from chef Ludo Lefebvre.

The experience is inspired by The Boys, which is based on the comic book by writer Garth Ennis (Preacher) and artist Darick Robertson. It is set in a world where superheroes exist and are treated like celebrities and gods. The problem? These superheroes are definitely not listening to Uncle Ben’s phrase: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

The real-life Butcher Shop will bring the world of The Boys to life from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 27-28. The name comes from the main character, Billy Butcher, who is played by Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek). Visitors will set foot on a lifelike Hollywood-level set and props in an interactive theatre production with previews from the show and gourmet sandwiches created by Lefebvre. The menu includes Hamlander with ham, American cheese, radish, cornichon, and honey butter; or the Starcross with sliced lamb, harissa, arugula, dill and yogurt. Oh, and did we mention that all the sandwiches are complimentary?

“I was immediately hooked on The Boys, its gritty nature, its no-nonsense action, and its pure unapologetic indulgence. It’s everything I try to bring to my guests when I create food for them,” said Lefebvre. “So when the Amazon Prime Video team approached me to collaborate with them on Butcher Shop, what else could I say but “f**k yeah!”

The Butcher Shop takes a page out of The Boys’ secret hideout, a place to capture and lock up a super. Visitors will discover Easter eggs and coded messages that dive deeper into the story.

If you can’t attend the pop-up Butcher Shop, Twitch will be live-streaming the experience to audiences worldwide. The closing of the shop will be as dramatic as its opening.

“Our goal is to creatively and artfully recreate The Boys’ universe with an experience that’s fully immersive and fun for fans, in the heart of LA’s buzzing Fairfax district,” said Mike Benson, Head of Marketing at Amazon Studios. “The Butcher Shop experience will capture the hearts – and stomachs – of comic-book fans and future The Boys fans alike, and it continues the work of Amazon Prime Video to lead the entertainment industry with experiences that connect fans in a deeper way to our series’.”

The Butcher Shop will be located at 457 N Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
