Contra: Rogue Corps is coming to consoles and PC in September

Contra is a classic run and gun shooter that was popular on the NES console back in 1988. It has spawned many sequels, and Konami will be releasing a new Contra game called Contra: Rogue Corps. The twin-stick, third-person action game is going to be a very different take from the original with new characters, but it will still have similar elements like battling weird alien creatures.

Contra: Rogue Corps features 4 wacky characters, and each will have special attacks and skills. You can also upgrade the characters and their abilities in the Operation Room. Kaiser is a big and tough soldier. A survivor of the Alien Wars, he has been rebuilt with a massive arm that transforms into a drill. Ms. Harakiri is an assassin who survived the Alien Wars by fusing together with an alien, who now lives inside her midsection. Hungry Beast was once a scientist named Kurt Steiner, and he has inserted his brain inside a giant cyborg panda. Gentleman is a Brain Bug alien raised by humans and is the most mannered of the bunch.

The game will feature a single-player story campaign mode, but you can also team up with 3 other players in multiplayer. There’s also a PvP mode for 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 or 1v4 matches. Nobuya Nakazato is directing the game and has worked on Contra III: The Alien Wars and Contra: Hard Corps.

Synopsis: Several years after the events of the Alien Wars, CONTRA: ROGUE CORPS follows a former military group living on the fringes as bounty hunters and treasure finders in the Damned City. Survival requires fast reactions, powerful weapons and the occasional organ and cybernetic augmentation.

Contra: Rogue Corps will retail for $39.99 and released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) on September 24, 2019.
