It has been rumored that Robert Pattinson was going to play Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeve’s upcoming The Batman film. It was then reported that the actor was in talks, which led to a few petitions being created that doesn’t want him to play the Caped Crusader. And now we have news that Warner Bros. has approved the casting of the Twilight star as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.

Yes, it looks like we’ll be seeing Robert Pattinson as Batman, after all. With the actor in talks and Warner Bros giving the okay, it’s looking to be a done deal, according to Deadline.

According to reports, director Reeves has taken a liking to Pattinson as the billionaire playboy, and it was a close call between him and Nicholas Hoult (Tolkien, Dark Phoenix). The studio was conflicted and wanted to see both actors on tape to make the final decision. And according to the site, the decision and meetings happened yesterday. It was even said that the studio was impressed by Hoult, but in the end, it was Pattinson who won their hearts.

Pattinson has become a highly acclaimed actor with a lot of indie projects since the days of being a sparkling vampire in the Twilight Saga and a wizard in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He’s also going to appear in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, Tenet. This isn’t the first time an actor in a Batman project has received flak from the public. Michael Keaton and Heath Ledger proved many of the doubters with their performances.

The film will be directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) and will follow Bruce Wayne in the early years as Batman. Audiences will have to wait a few years to see if the casting is the right choice.

The Batman will hit theaters on June 25, 2021
