Mortal Kombat 11 gets new update after players complained about grinding

Mortal Kombat 11 has been out for a week, and so far the fighting game has been a solid fighter with a lot of characters to choose from. The biggest update to the series is the amount of customization for the many fighters. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows since there is controversy involving the tediousness of grinding to get loot. Developer NetherRealm Studios is truly making gamers work for character skins, gears, consumables, concept art and more, and it’s causing a lot of frustration for fans. The studio is listening, and it has been working on fixing the difficulty of earning virtual currency with a new patch. To make things a bit more bearable, NetherRealm is also giving out a gift filled with lots of virtual money.

Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt is a mode where players can use their Koins, Hearts and Souls to unlock chests. These chests contain gears, skins, fatalities, brutalities, and more. You can also earn skins and other items through other modes like the Towers of Time. Those who have been playing Towers of Time knows how hard it can be, even when using consumables. NetherRealm has been working on fixing the difficulty, and to help earn the players’ trust, it has offered fans a gift that includes 500,000 Koins, 500 Hearts, 1,000 Souls and 1,000 Time Crystals. These should be enough to lock a few skins, fatalities and brutalities. The gift is available for PS4 users and will be coming to other platforms soon.

The new patch is now available for PS4 and PC users, with Xbox One and Nintendo Switch getting one soon. In addition to fixing the grind like increasing Koins for winning Ranked Matches and increasing rewards for chests in The Krypt, the update also fixes crashes and exploits, changes to AI, and more.

  • Increased rewards for breakables in The Krypt
  • Adjusted rewards from AI Battle mode
  • Increased Koin rewards for winning Ranked Matches

Towers of Time Adjustments

  • Adjusted AI difficulty curve
  • Further opponent health reductions in higher level Towers
  • Performing a Fatal Blow while standing in an active modifier will no longer sometimes cause unexpected behavior or a crash
  • Ice based modifiers will no longer attempt to freeze players during invalid states
  • Adjusted and removed modifiers from many Daily Towers
  • Increased Koin Rewards for kompleting Towers and Tower Platforms
  • Increased Dragon Challenge Koin rewards
  • Increased post fight Koin rewards
  • Increased amount of Hearts earned from Fatalities, Brutalities, and Mercies
  • Lowered modifier damage for many modifiers
  • Adjusted the lifespan of several modifiers
  • Dramatically increased cooldowns on Tag Assist modifiers
  • Fixed a missing Reduced Damage modifier in The Gauntlet
  • Several Gift/Curse Modifiers are now considered projectiles allowing them to interact with moves that effect projectiles as intended
  • Adjusted Gauntlet difficulty and progression requirements
  • Disabler Konsumables now work with all intended modifiers
  • Improved targeting for several Konsumables
  • Sektor Hunter Killer Protocol Modifier is now disabled by the Rocket Disabler Konsumable
  • Corrected some multipliers on Augments for some characters which were inconsistent with others
  • Fixed incorrect Armor interactions with some Modifiers
  • Decreased Konsumable cooldowns for players
