Her Story creator’s new game, Telling Lies, has a teaser trailer

Telling Lies

Sam Barlow (Her Story) and Annapurna Interactive have released the teaser trailer for Telling Lies, the upcoming live-action narrative game starring Logan Marshall-Green (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Kerry Bishé (Argo), and Angela Sarafyan (Westworld).

Barlow is the director behind the game, and he has worked on games like Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Telling Lies uses live-action videos to tell a non-linear story where you must decide what’s true. The format is similar to Barlow’s previous game, Her Story, where you use a computer to search for different videos inside a database. The more videos you uncover, the closer you get to the truth. In Her Story, you watch interviews of a woman being investigated by the police, but in Telling Lies, it involves the private lives of four people.

Synopsis: Telling Lies sits you in front of an anonymous laptop loaded with a stolen NSA database full of footage. The footage covers two years in the intimate lives of four people whose stories are linked by a shocking incident. Explore the database by typing search terms, watch the clips where those words are spoken and piece together your story.

Her Story won for Best Narrative at The Game Awards in 2015 and offers a unique way to tell a story.

Telling Lies will be available later this year. You can visit the Steam Page at https://store.steampowered.com/app/762830/Telling_Lies/

If Annapurna Interactive sounds familiar, it’s a division of Annapurna Pictures, the studio that has worked on Laika’s Missing Link, If Beale Street Could Talk, Sausage Party and more. The video game publisher’s projects include What Remains of Edith Finch.
