Angelina Jolie in talks for Marvel’s The Eternals

Thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is confident in bringing other superhero teams from Marvel Comics into the movie spotlight. The Eternals is one such film, and we have news that Angelina Jolie is in talks to be in the superhero team film.

There’s no news yet on who she is going to play, and everything else is still largely a mystery. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s source, the movie will have a love story between Ikaris and Sersi. The former is a man fueled by cosmic energy, and the latter is excited about living with humans.

Could Angelina Joke be playing the role of Sersi? If that’s the case, her role will definitely be interesting since the comic book version is an immortal who has been a part of important historical events. She met with Homer and was the inspiration for Circe, the goddess of magic. She also helped Merlin fight during the time of King Arthur’s rule.

This isn’t the first time Jolie has been in a comic book movie. She can be seen portraying Fox in Wanted starring James McAvoy.

The Eternals has been met with some resistance due to a rumor that the studio is looking for a gay actor to play a gay superhero. A petition was created that demands the removal of said character after Feige said that he’s been thinking about having an LGBT superhero in the MCU.

The film will be directed by Chloe Zhao, whose previous works include The Rider, a film about a cowboy who looks for a new identity. The script comes from writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo (Ruin, Mimi from Rio) and is based on the comic series by Jack Kirby.

Fans of Jolie can watch her in the sequel to Maleficent called Maleficent: Mistress of Evil from director Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales). The movie hits theaters October 18, 2019.
