There were many who took issue with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice including the “Martha” scene between Batman and Superman. Another issue was Batman killing criminals. The Caped Crusader has killed in the comics before, but the Batman that many fans have come to know and love has a rule about not killing. Director Zack Snyder responds to those who have problems about his version of the Dark Knight.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Director’s Cuts event happened over the weekend, and it was hosted by Vero. Snyder was there for the Q&A and talked about how fans should get over Batman killing.

“Oh like, ‘Batman killed a guy’. I’m like, ‘Really? Wake the f**k up,'” Snyder said in response to his darker version of the DC hero.

“I guess that’s what I’m saying,” he continued. “Once you’ve lost your virginity to this f***ing movie and then you come and say to me something about like ‘my superhero wouldn’t do that.’ I’m like ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the f***ing road on that. You know what I mean?”

“It’s a cool point of view to be like ‘my heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t f***ing lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money from their corporations. My heroes didn’t commit any atrocities.’ That’s cool. But you’re living in a f***ing dream world.”

We can definitely see where Snyder is coming from with heroes being different from what fans have grown up with. It echoes the quote from Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight: “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Except you can replace villain with a man tired of letting villains get away and is willing to kill them to end crime.

Are you okay with Batman killing, or would you prefer him to hold up to his no-kill rule?
