Hulk Hogan is a legend in wrestling who has appeared in movies like Rocky III and Suburban Commando. (Who remembers that one?) Now we have news that Chris Hemsworth is going to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic from director Todd Phillips.

Chris Hemsworth is set to play Hulk Hogan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And if you recall, Todd Phillips is the director of the upcoming standalone Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. It’s an interesting piece of news since that means both Mark Ruffalo and Hemsworth truly are buddies since they have played characters named Hulk.

The Hulk Hogan biopic will bring Phillips together again with screenwriter Scott Silver since both of them have worked on the script for The Joker film. John Pollono will be joining Silver as the co-screenwriter.

The Hulk Hogan film deals are almost done, and once that’s out of the way, it will be seeing a release on Netflix. Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter says that the movie will focus on his rise to fame, making it more of a Hulkster and Hulkamania origin story.

Fans have taken to Twitter to respond to the news.

The wrestler was caught in a sex tape scandal thanks to Gawker, which managed other sites like Jezebel, io9, Deadspin and Kotaku. He hit back with a lawsuit that ultimately ended Gawker, but the other sites were unaffected and are now managed by Univision.

Chris Hemsworth will be back as Thor in Avengers: Endgame. The conclusion to Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019. You can also check out Todd Phillips’ The Joker movie on October 4, 2019.

Fans of wrestling, however, can catch others wrestlers on the big screen with Fighting with My Family, starring Dwayne Johnson. It follows wrestler Paige as she competes to become a WWE star.
