Chris Pratt says Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still on its way

James Gunn was fired from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 due to his tweets from a decade ago, and people weren’t sure if the film was still going to be released or pushed back. Marvel Studios originally had plans to have the film come out in 2020, but with the director gone, that meant pre-production was in hiatus. Now we have Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, revealing that the third film in the series is still happening.

It’s been reported that Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to tackle the project, but nothing concrete surfaced yet. Then again, the directors probably didn’t want to follow up after Gunn’s take on the team.

For those still worrying, Pratt has said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is on the way.

“I promise there’ll be a third movie,” Pratt said. “I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way.”

“We’re still circling the city of Jericho, I like to say,” Pratt added.

James Gunn is currently attached to directing the Suicide Squad sequel.

Taika Waititi is a fan-favorite choice for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director’s chair since he was able to turn things around for the Thor series with Thor: Ragnarok. However, we’ll have to wait and see when Marvel Studios is ready with making an announcement on a director.

The last time we saw the Guardians of the Galaxy, most of the members became victims of Thanos’ snap. The snap caused half of the living population in the universe to disappear. Only two members remained including Rocket Raccoon and Nebula, which we can see in the Super Bowl ad for Avengers: Endgame. It should be interesting to see how The Avengers will bring back characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and Spider-Man, especially since the latter two also have sequels on the way.
