Breathe easy with the Autowit Fresh Air Purifier (Review)

If you live in Los Angeles as we do, then you know that our public transportation isn’t the best. That leads to a majority of the population dependent on their automobiles. With the amount of time we spend in our cars sitting in traffic, unbeknownst to most of us, we’re breathing in a lot of harmful air pollution.

Now we don’t really think about protecting ourselves to the dangers of air pollution, because honestly if it’s out of our sight, it’s out of our minds. But for those who do take their well-being into consideration, Autowit has made available a multi-purpose air purifier that’s perfect for your car or home. We’ve been driving around using the air purifier for the last few weeks to see if the Autowit Fresh can really remove the air pollution that surrounds us.

The Autowit Fresh carries a design that closely resembles a thermos. Its circular shape helps it to be easily placed inside a cup holder. It stands at just about 8-inches tall at its highest point and has a diameter of about 3-inches, making this easy to hold in one hand. On the top, you’ll find the fan that draws in the air to be purified, and there’s also a small cup that lets you place scented oils. The cup is hidden and secured by a lid that’s held on by magnets. On the front, you’ll find a singular button that powers up the purifier and adjusts the speed. On the back, you’ll find the power outlet which is a micro USB port, and on one side you’ll find a smoke sensor.

Under the fan is a series of LED lights. The lights will indicate the air quality around you. A green light means air quality is good, a yellow light means air quality is acceptable, and a red light means air quality is poor. The Autowit Fresh is made from a combination of aluminum and ABS plastic, making it durable to any bumps and small drops, and there’s also a removable bottom base that will give the air purifier some extra height if your cup holders are not shallow enough.

The Autowit Fresh is built with an Ionizer that can produce up to 8 million negative ions. This amount will easily provide a mid-size car with constant fresh air. The air purifier itself is exceptionally quiet at its lowest setting. Which, at times made us double check to see if it was on. On the highest setting, the purifier will only go as loud as 60 decibels, which is nowhere near being uncomfortably loud. The lowest setting will come in at about 35 decibels, which is quiet enough that you can even sleep while it’s on.

The air purifier has a HEPA filter that can remove PM2.5 (particulate matter), pollen, smoke, dust, floccus, formaldehyde, and aromas. When using the purifier in the car, I wasn’t affected by airborne allergens as much as I normally am, and I was heavily using the purifier right after Los Angeles was affected by several raging wildfires.

The biggest indication for me that the filter was working really well was when it eliminated odors that would linger inside my car. If you’re like us who order fast-food quite often, then you know that even a short trip will leave the inside of your car smelling like food if you don’t have proper air flow. Normally, even by the next day, the aroma of food would still be trapped inside. But with the filter on, it did a phenomenal job of disposing of the odors.

We get the fact that most people won’t buy HEPA filters because they’re either expensive or too big. But the Autowit Fresh is perfect for those who want to take their air quality serious without burning a hole in their bank account. Priced at around $70, the Autowit Fresh is a perfect companion to keep around you in places that you might spend the most time in. Whether that’s your car, office, or home, you can know that breathing quality fresh air is made easy enough with this air purifiers small, portable, and lightweight size.
