Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been under construction since 2016, and it’s finally opening this summer at Disneyland. The land is so big that Disneyland had to remove and expand certain areas around the park to make it happen. Now we have reports that its premier ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, can last up to 28 minutes.

Popular rides inside Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure are known to have long wait times for very short rides. Radiator Springs in Cars Land has an average 90-minute wait in the last 30 days, with the ride duration lasting 4 minutes. Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye is a 3-minute ride with an average wait time of 50 minutes in the last 30 days, and that’s an older ride. Now imagine a new ride with a duration of 28 minutes. Could the wait time be 10 hours?

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is rumored to be 28-minutes long where guests can experience the Resistance and the First Order battling each other.

Scott Trowbridge, Creative Executive of Disney Imagineering, said that the ride is “the most epic attraction we’ve ever built” in the teaser video below.

According to Alicia Stella from Disney and More, she says the ride has “more than 300 animatronic figures” with it possibly lasting 28 minutes. You can listen to her talk about the land in the Theme Park Stop Podcast below. You can listen to that at the 43-minute mark.

Stella says that the story starts with you being invited onboard the Star Destroyer, only to be held captive by the First Order. Luckily, the Resistance comes to save you, and your adventure begins via trackless vehicles that will take you to many moments in the Star Wars universe, with it finally landing on another planet.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to cover up 14 acres. To give you a sense of the size, Paradise Pier at Disney’s California Adventure is 15 acres. The land will open in June 2019.
