The ’90s are back once again in the new Captain Marvel trailer

It has been quite a fortuitous for Marvel Studios. This year alone we’ve seen Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War rake in a lot of dough at a record-breaking pace. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Next year will mark the end of Phase 3 and the end of a lot of actors’ contracts.

Then again, we get to see the rise of other superheroes as well. Heroes such as Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and coming next March: Captain Marvel. The highly anticipated debut of Marvel Studios’ first-female led solo film is now only months away. Last week, we saw our first look at the film thanks to Entertainment Weekly. Today, we get our first look at the Captain Marvel trailer. Check it out!

Easily the biggest change from the comics is the apparent memory loss of her time on Earth. If you know absolutely nothing about the character then know that she was a human that eventually gets transformed into half-human and half-Kree. But even in the comics, she knew who she was. In the trailer, we also see the absence of her time as NASA’s head of security. Her time at NASA is what eventually leads to befriending Captain Mar-vell, the original… Wait for it… Captain Marvel.

But there are other Easter eggs that you’ve probably noticed as well. One of those is the return of Agent Coulson in a younger and more strapping role and Ronan the Accuser. Another is seeing the iconic helmet and fauxhawk of Captain Marvel, a fan favorite look by many fans. Lastly, we get a brief glimpse of the villains of the film, the enigmatic Skrulls. For those of you unaware of the Skrulls, the Skrulls are an alien race of shape-shifters who infiltrate various planets over the galaxy through their shape-shifting methods. They also have a war with the Kree that has lasted centuries.

In addition to the Captain Marvel trailer above, Marvel Studios has released the first poster for the film too. Check it out!
