Midsummer Scream scares up Long Beach this weekend

There’s that old saying “It’s Christmas in July,” and for some people, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Starting this weekend, ghouls, goblins and horror aficionados alike will be coming together for Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, California.

The annual Halloween festival attracts thousands of people who are fans of the macabre, but blood and guts aren’t the only things that you’ll be able to see during the weekend. Midsummer Scream is the time where the biggest names in horror come to get us prepared for Halloween and satiate our horror desires. Some of the attractions that will be running during Midsummer Scream include A Donnie Darko experience, Castle Frankenstein Entryway by Calhaunts, and the Scare Zone from Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest. There will also be a few experiences that attendees can check out including Urban Death by Zombie Joes’ Underground Theatre, Delusion VR, and Give Up the Ghost by Stash House Escape Rooms.

Midsummer Scream isn’t just limited to attractions and experiences, some of your favorite horror icons will also be in attendance, giving you the chance to meet them. Actor Bill Moseley (House of 1000 corpses) will be live in person on Sunday. Actress Thora Birch, LeeAnna Vamp, Actor Philip Friedman, and David Kirschner (Producer, Hocus Pocus) will also be in attendance. Of course, no horror festival would be complete without the Mistress of the Dark, Elvira, gracing the festival with her ominous presence.

Whether you’re looking to beat the heat this weekend, or looking for something to do that’s out of the ordinary, then why not check out one of California’s biggest horror festival. I’ve personally attended Midsummer Scream a few times myself, and it’s always a terrifying joy to see what kind of scares these connoisseurs of horror like to conjure up from their sick and twisted minds.

Midsummer Scream runs July 28th and 29th. You can buy your tickets here
