Doctor Who series 11 teaser reveals the Doctor, her companions, potential quirks, and an Easter egg

BBC and BBC America have released the teaser trailer to the anticipated 11th season of Doctor Who featuring Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor. The teaser featured the three new companions – Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill), and Graham (Bradley Walsh)  – and the effect the Doctor will have on them.

Throughout the teaser, which was shown during the World Cup, there were hints of possible quirks that may come from our new Doctor. During Ryan’s sequence, a woman’s hand with energy is seen dipping sausage in a poached egg. Could this be the 13th Doctor’s favorite meal? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

As for Yasmin’s part, I couldn’t figure that out. I was too focused on her friend taking the last slice of pizza.

That was nice of the Doctor to give Yas a new pizza.

Now, for Graham’s part, he was reading the newspaper and then ends up with The Beano’s Summer Special of 1981. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this magazine. In The Rings of Akhaten, the Eleventh Doctor was seen reading the comic magazine while watching Dave Oswald as the Doctor orchestrated Dave meeting Ellie and, thus, creating Clara Oswald.

We then see the Doctor walking towards the camera in her full costume. She is beaming at the camera with the words THE UNIVERSE IS CALLING.

There was no indication for when the full trailer would be released, but BBC One and BBC America did reveal that Doctor Who would return in the fall. San Diego Comic-Con begins this week. Doctor Who will have their own panel on Thursday afternoon in Hall H with Whittaker, Cole, Gill, Walsh, Chris Chibnall, and executive producer Matt Strevens. Nerd Reactor will be on hand live-tweeting the event as well as post-panel coverage.

Doctor Who returns this fall on BBC One and BBC America.
