Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger official trailer: ‘the Divine Pairing’

Marvel has finally released the trailer for Freeform’s anticipated superhero duo Cloak & Dagger.

Based on the Marvel comics by Bill Mantlo, Cloak & Dagger tells the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyronne Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), who somehow obtained powers that link them to each other. Tandy has the power to emit light daggers while Tyronne is able to engulf people in darkness. It is through Tandy’s light that Tyronne is not engulfed by the darkness himself.

At the beginning of the video, we hear “first, we look at the past. New Orleans is a rollercoaster of destruction and rebirth. Fire. Famine. Disease. War. It always came down to two people – the Divine Pairing.’ Then, in the end, the same voice concludes, “It’s the same for all the others. One will live and one will die.” It is this comment that makes me believe they were both experimented on. In the comics, the characters were tested on by criminals who wanted to make a new kind of heroin. In the series, we see Tandy and Tyronne meeting as children with Tyronne saving Tandy from a car accident. Maybe, after the accident, when they are found, they are taken back and tested on and then separated. Of course, this is all my theory. We’ll find out more soon enough!

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger premieres June 7th on FreeForm at 8 pm.
