Doctor Who: New Doctor, New Showrunner, and New Logo

In anticipation of the 11th season of Doctor Who – with a new Doctor and showrunner, BBC has released a new logo for the series. Broadchurch’s Chris Chibnall will now serve as executive producer and showrunner with Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. There will be three new companions joining Whittaker’s Thirteen  – Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill.

Murray Gold, the composer for the previous Doctor Who series, announced he will not return for the new series, but wishes them the best at this past weekend’s Gallifrey One. The special effects team will also be different – moving from Milk VFX to Double Negative.

Now, we see a new logo presented below, created by Matthew Herbert:

Working with Chibnall and executive producer Matt Strevens, the new logo was produced by creative agency Little Hawk. The team also created an insignia for the series.

BBC Worldwide Executive Creative Director Rafaela Perera said in a press release, “The Doctor Who logo and insignia are the quintessential signifier for the brand. Our aim was to create modern and elegant designs that were anchored in the things that we love most about Doctor Who.”

The new logo designs will be available on products at selected retailers on February 20th.
