Team Kaliber reigns supreme again at Call of Duty’s CWL New Orleans

My first time hearing of Team Kaliber was during the CWL Dallas event in December of last year. And I was rooting for them to beat the very popular OpTic Gaming. (They even have their own booth at the event.) The latter team has been dominating in the Call of Duty Championships for almost three years… that is until the two teams competed against each other in Call of Duty: WWII matches at the Dallas event. Kaliber came out on top, with OpTic Gaming coming in third place.

Over the weekend, Team Kaliber and OpTic Gaming competed again at the CWL New Orleans Open held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. And once again Team Kaliber makes it to the top, earning them a large piece of the event’s $200,000 prize pool. OpTic Gaming did not fare well.

OpTic lost the first round to Echo Fox in the winner bracket. Soon after, they lost again to Red Reserve, putting them in the top-twelve spot.

With Kaliber at the top, Teams Luminosity Gaming, Rise Nation and Red Reserve claim the other top spots.

“Winning back-to-back events means the world to us. A lot of people doubted us, even after our Championship win at CWL Dallas, and I’m glad we could prove them all wrong,” said CWL New Orleans Open MVP, Martin ‘Chino’ Chino. “I’m really proud of us but being as good as we are I feel like we can keep improving. We want to stay at the top and the next challenge is the CWL Pro League and then CWL Atlanta in March.”

Check out the final rankings for CWL New Orleans:

· 1st – Team Kaliber

· 2nd – Luminosity Gaming

· 3rd – Rise Nation

· 4th – Red Reserve

· 5th/6th – Echo Fox / eUnited

The results of CWL New Orleans will help determine the sixteen qualifying teams for CWL Pro League at the MLG Arena (Columbus, Ohio) starting on January 23.

The next open event will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on March 9 – 11, 2018. For more info and tickets. visit
