Solo: A Star Wars Story has an official synopsis!

The super-secretive Star Wars film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, has been under wraps, despite being released a little more than four months from today. With the dramatic change of directors, audiences thought the film could be pushed back to a December release date, but nope – Disney and LucasFilm are sticking to their May date.

LucasFilm officially revealed the synopsis for the anticipated solo movie:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story’ releases in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018.

After the success of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we should expect to see a trailer for Solo. We could possibly see it during the Super Bowl commercial lineup – if Disney really wants to amp up the suspense.

Here is what we do know:

Lawrence and Jon Kasdan penned the screenplay. Previous directors Lord and Miller’s originally had actor Michael K. Williams in a role that had to be replaced when the duo directors left. The newly revamped production schedule conflicted with Williams’ other film commitments and, therefore, could not complete his part in the Solo movie. Director Ron Howard took over the film from Lord and Miller. Paul Bettany was hired in the reshoots in an undisclosed role.

Alden Ehrenreich stars as Han Solo; Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian; and, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. The film also stars Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will open in theaters on May 25th, 2018.
