Doctor Who reveals new image from the Christmas Special

Christmas is slowly approaching! Many people look forward to spending time with their loved ones and opening presents, but to many others, called Whovians, look forward to their annual tradition of spending time with the Doctor.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special is an annual tradition many of us look forward to, but this year is a little bit different. This year, we will say goodbye to Peter Capaldi’s Doctor as well as showrunner, Steven Moffat. This Christmas marks the end of an era – the Moffat era. So, this Christmas Special is going to go all out and have the Doctor team up with himself – the First Doctor, played by David Bradley, for one last adventure.

To make this farewell even more special, the episode will feature the return of fan-favorite companion, Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and, hopefully, give her a proper ending she deserves.

BBC America posted a new image and motion gif for the Christmas Special, which features the 12th Doctor in the process of regeneration alongside the First Doctor and Bill.

Get ready, guys. Only a few more weeks left!

The Doctor Who Christmas Special airs on December 25th on BBC One/BBC America.

Official Doctor Who Christmas Special Synopsis:

The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…

Twice Upon A Time is written by Steven Moffat, directed by Rachel Talalay, and executive produced by Brian Minchin. The 60-minute special guest stars Mark Gatiss as The Captain and Nikki Amuka-Bird as the voice of the glass woman, and will see Peter Capaldi’s Doctor regenerate into the Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker).
