Treat Yo’ Self 2017: Parks and Rec fans continue their tradition

It’s that time of year again – TREAT YO’ SELF DAY!

For every pop culture fanatic, Treat Yo’ Self Day is a yearly tradition on October 13th to basically just do that – treat yourself!

Created by the popular NBC comedy series Parks and Recreations, Treat Yo’ Self Day was a tradition for characters Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) and Donna Meagle (Retta) to just treat themselves to a day of pampering, indulging, and spending on whatever they wanted. It doesn’t matter the price or the bad taste, you treat yo’self to it!

Since the ‘holiday’ was first introduced in 2011, the show and fans have been celebrating October 13th as a day of treating themselves! Even the actors use this day as an excuse to just treat themselves. The series may have ended in 2015, but that has not stopped fans from celebrating the fake holiday.

What makes this year even more special is that the final season, which was set in 2017, had the pair celebrating ‘Treat Yo’ Self’ Day with the most extravagant spending and pampering yet! This year was their final Treat Yo’ Self on television together – TREAT YO’ SELF 2017!

NBC’s Parks and Recreation Official Synopsis:

In the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department, Leslie’s office mates include Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe, “Brothers and Sisters,” “The West Wing”), a health nut who wants to live to be 150 years old, and Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari, “Human Giant,” “Scrubs”), a fashion-obsessed wannabe player whose greatest dream is to own his own nightclub. Leslie’s boss, Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman, “Children’s Hospital”), hates the very government he works for, and sports one of the most impressive moustaches on primetime television. Rounding out the cast are: Adam Scott (“Friends with Kids,” “Party Down”) as Leslie’s husband and former campaign manager, Ben Wyatt; Rashida Jones ( “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” “The Office”) as her best friend, Ann; Chris Pratt (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Moneyball”) as shoeshine boy extraordinaire Andy Dwyer; and Aubrey Plaza (“Funny People”) as Andy’s wife, April, who doubles as Ron’s sullen assistant. Also starring are Retta (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) as the fun-loving Donna Meagle and Jim O’Heir (“Castle”) as the department’s punching bag, Jerry Gergich.

Parks and Recreation is available to binge on Netflix.
